On August 15, 2008 I called Vonage to transfer my service from ATT that included high speed internet service. I agreed to have the free month offer that included the transfer of both services home phone line, and internet service plus the international call service that included an USB device that if returned (in perfect shape) in 30 days would not cost me anything.

On August 20th, 2008 I received an email from Vonage stating that my order was not complete due to the fact that ATT could not transfer my phone line because I had my internet service tied to that line. I contacted Vonage and they told me to deal with ATT on that issue since Vonage did not have internet service on this city area. I told them that we were so unfortunate because I needed my internet service every day due to the fact that I am an online student enrolled on a Masters Program. I proceeded stating that I wanted my service, and contract canceled due to that issue. Since Vonage was not able to provide me internet service and was not able to make the transfer I canceled (after being played around for more than an hour) my service on August 28, 2008. I clearly stated that I wanted all services canceled including phone line (never used) international calls (barely used and willing to pay those charges) and the return of the equipment in perfect condition.

On September 17th, 2008 I was charged $52.37 of which $3.96 were the equivalent of the international calls that I made. After noticing Vonage's violation of their own advertisement, publicity and contract with me, I called demanding the reimbursement of all the fees applied to my account. They argued that I had not canceled my service with them so they had the right to charge me even though my phone line was not activated after a month of service. I have to mention that I had sent the USB equipment on August 30th, 2008 via UPS. I then, demanded again the full cancellation of the service that I had already cancel on August 28th, so after lots of playing around (transfer to many other departments and specialist, waiting times of 15 minutes and so on) they canceled again my service but now with an extra charge of $42.00 just because I was out of the 30 days money back guaranteed.

This is simply insane.
