Vonage Internet Telephone Service Provider Scam ripoff Lakewood New Jersey

Maybe someday someone will come up with inexpensive and reliable internet phone service. At the present time Vonage IS NOT that company.

After being unable to connect to the internet with their modem, I immediately returned it via the US Postal Service for the promised refund. In the meantime, they charge your credit card another $39.99 until their equipment is returned. After noting 10 days later that my credit card still had not been credited the initial charge of $34.99 and the subsequent charge I called the "alleged" customer service department at Vonage. They told me the modem still had not been returned. Days later, I got the same answer so, I decided to check with the Post Office.

Not only did their records show that the return package had arrived at the Lakewood Post Office only 2 days after I had mailed it but they subsequently produced and faxed me documentation that someone at Vonage had actually SIGNED for it. The US Postal people were terrific. They tried several times, unsuccessfully, to fax the documents to Vonage. They finally hand delivered them and were told it would be taken care of. Days later, my credit card still had not been credited so I called Vonage once again. Their answer: The package still had not been returned.

Eventually I will contact the Better Business Bureau and the New Jersey State Attorney General's Office and file formal complaints. In the meantime, I contacted my credit card company and filed dispute claims on both charges. They will issue me the credits and then go after Vonage.

Vonage is a rip-off and no one in their right mind should even contemplate getting involved with them.
