I signed up with Vonics 07/20/07 after my previous voip service Sunrocket went bankrupt. Like all the other Sunrocket refugees, I was hesitant to buy into another bad voip service, but there wasn't much time to port my number to a new carrier.

So after reading the glowing reviews on Vonics, I decided to sign up for their annual plan + 3 free months extra for $218. At first, everything worked with few glitches, but that started to gradually degrade with more frequent unannounced outages. Then it got worse were the outages would last a couple days. Each time Vonics would send an email days later to say they were having problems with this or that, and it wasn't their fault.

Meanwhile, callers were having difficulty reaching me. Sometimes their messages would get forwarded to the voicemail, and email, but eventually that stopped working as well. Then around July 2008, my service went out for about a week with no incoming or outgoing service. When it came back on, Vonic's was sputtering to stay alive. The service became very sporatic only working sometimes. Finally, around mid-september, incoming calls was the only feature that worked sometimes, then all service stopped in October.

A quick search on the internet shows that others have had the same troubles as me. To further complicate matters, Vonics seems to have disappeared and is unreachable either by phone, email, or fax; and their website is inaccessable most of the time.

Now, the most pressing issue for me is to port (transfer) my current phone number to another company. I have decided to sign up Callcentric's monthly plan. Unfortunately, I may lose my number because of Vonics just yesterday seems to have inactivated my phone number before they were supposed to.

The other problem is in the Terms of Service agreement, it states that you must call them to get an RMA to return the Innomedia box to them otherwise they will charge you for it, and not release your phone for porting. Vonics is really, really, bad news. I hope for the best, but it doesn't look good. Anyway, I am posting this here for anyone who coping with this company.
