I've been banking with this company for about 7 years now and have never had a problem with them up until a year ago. It started with them charging me an INSANE amount of overdraft fees for small purchase that didn't come out to more than $20! I called them and they took back enough of the fees and put me back into the black with $75 to live on for the week, Keep in mind we are a family of three here. They had pretty much taken my husbands entire check he deposited that week.

I thought that was generous of them to do at least that and was happy that they could at least give us that much. Now here recently i had a little over $700 dollars in the bank one day and the next i was negative a little over $300 the next!! I called them immediately and it was due to computer errors and there mistakes. They issued me a new debit card due to fradulent activity.

The new card took money from our overdraft account instead of our main account. So, There computer wasn't drawing from our other main account to cover the purchases, when it's always done so before. they refunded all there overdraft fees, fixed my debit card account, and once more we were in the black. Today, I just looked up my account balance and they are charging me a $10 overdraft protection transfer fee.

Where is this coming from?? They've never charged me a fee like this before. I feel like since the economy has go to crap there trying to sucker there clients for every nickel and dime and hoping we to catch it or complain!! I will be call them today and getting that $10 back, if not i'm changing banks!! Were a one income family and don't need all this. I'm glad i found this site, and am shocked at all the stories! It's really too bad, because they've always been so good. If anyone want to start a law suit, I'M IN!!

Over draft protection according to the account terms and conditions equals a fee. Think of it like babysitting becuase that is what the bank is essentially doing for you, watching your account to make sure that you are not Neg. you have to pay your babysitter a hr. pay this is just a flat rate, some banks charge per item that goes neg. not just a flat fee. You can make a transfer from the other account through the automayted system as well as online up to 9 pm est to cover the neg. balance and not be charged a fee. I suggesst you do call them to find out what other options they can give you, by looking at it they have already done so muchso don't be surprised if you don't get the 10 dollar fee back.

Why close the account?

I am glad the bank helped you and took care of your fees, but like the other person stated whats the point of closing your account. As you said they refunded you alot of money, you have not had any problems with the bank, but one problem and you are ready to close your account. One thing you have to understand is that whether it is computer error or human error no one person or thing can always be perfect. When you receive your card you can verify which account the card will pull money from and if that is not correct you can call and get it corrected. The $10 fee sounds like it is being charged due to money being put into your checking account due to the balance in that account not being sufficient to cover the debits that were coming in on that particular account. If the bank refunded the fees due to a computer error they normally will refund all fees due to that. Whether they refund that fee or not they still refuned several other fees that were not due to a bank error. As stated in the other comment, to get any fees back at this time from anyone is good. Some other companies will not do that. People are always willing to leave the bank on the first error that occurs, but when you have you have fees that are not the banks error due you say well it is my fault so I won't call to see if they will give me my money back. Remember if the debits are items that you authorized and until they have been posted they are subject to be charged fees if the money is not available to cover them no matter how small the debits total. Each debit is charged a fee it is more than one debit that is coming in for payment.

I Would Not Change Banks At This Point....

...even if they don't give you back your $10. That seems like a reasonable fee for what it is they're doing. They've so far made you whole, while they probably ate a lot of costs from someone commiting fraud against your account. The fact they even refunded you hundreds of dollars in fees would seem to show their good faith effort at fixing things. I guarantee you - if you go anywhere else - no bank would be that generous, especially right now.

Best of luck to you....
