okay wal-mart policy states that full time employees are suppose to get 32 hours or more a week, iv'e been getting 19, 22, 28 , and lower !!! for the last month its been hard just to have money to buy gas just to get to work, we've all been cut at this store some more than others, the ones that are in good with management got to keep their hours which i dont think is fair !! we were all told that home office was making the schedules, then someone slipped up and said management at the store was doing it, our dept. manager went to stand up for us and somehow lost her job " she's been there for almost 8 years" all over hear say. she supposedly called the store manager a name behind her back, and 6 associates signed statements confirming it, okay the date and time they said it happened she was in the shop talking to me, i figure the store manager needed a reason to get rid of her cause she was starting trouble !!! and don't let me start talking about the store manager taking our bonuses away !! claiming to fix the ac units !! lol ..okay, i've got certain days and times i can work meaning i have a fixed schedule, uh, not anymore according to the store manager i over heard her say" if they dont want to work the hours i want them to they can find somewhere else to work " !! but yet the brown nosers kept their hours and days !!!! they all claim home office is doing it and they're doing payroll based on the management but, yet, all of the other wal-marts in the area are not affected ? i don't understand why they're doing this !!!

Become a valued employee

AUTHOR: Individualinme - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 23, 2009

To fight the problems created by scorecard you first must be recognized as a valued employee of the company. Stand out from the crowd. Become indispensable. Make them wish they had more employees like yourself. Then when Scorecard makes the schedule and you are limited to a four hour shift when they need you for the full eight just say "oh well...blame the computer, I'm only doing four." Maybe then they will see how ridiculous it is to take away the individuality of their most valued employees. Scorecard sucks. Find a better solution Walmart.

Gee, I Wonder Why?

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 19, 2009

The OP states that they want to be "full time" BUT then goes on to state "i've got certain days and times I CAN WORK meaning i have a fixed schedule". What a load of crap. The EMPLOYEE is gonna tell the manager WHEN he/she is available to work. And the employee wonders why he/she is only getting part-time hours. Gee, I wonder why? MAYBE those "brown-nosers" will come in when the manager wants them to. See that's the problem with employees today. It's not good help is hard to find, it's any help is hard to find. And the really sad part is they don't see the problem with their actions. At my wife's bank, they fired a gal the other day cause she came in late the second time in a less then a week. The first time, she came in 45 minutes late and didn't call and when she did arrive, the excuse she gave them was, SHE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING WITH HER HAIR. They wrote her up with a first and final notice. Couple days later, she shows up 15 minutes late. They didn't even bother hearing an excuse, fired her on the spot. All you hear from MOST employees today IS what are YOU, the company, gonna do for me. Here's a suggestion for the OP. Go to the manager and tell her you appriciate your HAVING a job and will work anytime she'd like you to.

Scorecard is the problem

AUTHOR: Moira - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 19, 2009

I totally get that you are upset with your hours, but the company is telling the truth when they say the hours are coming from corporate. I am an employee of wal-mart myself, and we are having the same problem. Everyone is going to scorecard, which means the company generates X amount of hours per day that they deem necessary for each department based on how many people come through the store, and how much is coming from each department. On a fixed schedule, you limit yourself to work a full time week. Let's say you are only able to work 7-4, and the score card drops 12- 5:30.... You won't get the hours because your availability stops at 4.

Personally I can't stand the scorecard. I preferred my set hours, but this is their new system, and everyone will be eventually switching over to it. Every department in the company. All I can say, is I hope Corporate will realize their system doesn't work, and will lose employees looking for jobs where they can work full time hours in the time frame they can actually work.

When I was hired for wal-mart I specified the hours I could work, and it worked out well for a while, and now that scorecard has dropped, the *family friendlly* walmart, is no longer *family friendly*
