I bought a Wal-Mart Everstart Marine Battery 875 Cranking Amp. in February 2008. It carried an 18 month full replacement with no charges. I bought the most expensive battery they had hoping it would last a long time. I paid over $85.00 for the battery.

I used it through the summer of 2008 until July of this year 2009. In July it died.I put a trinkle charge on the battery for three days. I went fishing the week after the 4th and it would not turn the motor over. I had to get towed back to shore.

I haven't had the opportunity until today to take the battery in for a replacement. I had the battery 19 months.

After the prorated battery ripoff i ended up paying another $76 for a new battery. They allowed me $17 for the old battery.

I have had Marine batteries to last over 5 to 9 years. It makes me wonder if these Everstart batteries are not RECONDITIONED batteries. The price they charge you would think they are new.

For a store as large as Wal-Mart there is no such thing as Customer Satisfaction Anymore.

The so called salesman in the sports department told me the reason the battery died is bacause i did not disconnect the wires from the battery everytime i came home. He said the battery was still being discharged when it remained hooked up. HA HA

Wal-Mart Is Not An AUTO PARTS Store!

AUTHOR: Bobby - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, October 19, 2009

I don't think anyone is arguing if Wal-Mart is selling garbage batteries or not.  I don't, and will not shop at Wal-Mart!

The point is that he had a warranty for 18 months.  Regardless of his fishing trip, or a trip to Europe, he tried to return it after the 18 month period expired.

To emphasize this further.....  If you buy car parts other then an auto parts store, then you get what you deserve.  Wal-Mart is not an auto service store.  This would be like buying clothes in a furniture store.  Get the point?  Stop being so cheap.  I ride a motorcycle, and I'll be damned if I go anywhere else then a MOTORCYCLE parts store!!

Walmart batteries are crap!

AUTHOR: Inspector - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, October 16, 2009

I think the message is clear, don't buy batteries from Walmart.  I once bought one from Sam's Club and the same thing happened.  Needless to say I haven't purchased another battery from Walmart/Sam's.

I did not know about this report forum at that time and would have put a report here to warn others.  Others may berate you for your report but, I understand.

IT'S YOUR ERROR!

AUTHOR: Bobby - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, October 16, 2009

As the previous post stated, you tried to get a refund after the warranty expired.  Don't bad mouth a company for your ignorance.  There is no ripoff, or scam here.

I do not understand what your complaint is exactly? there is no rip off or scam here. You said yourself that the warranty was 18 months and that you tried to take it back on the 19th month, a month after the warranty expired. Wal-mart would have no reason to let you return an item that is 19 months old when the warranty is expired.
