I am 19 yrs old and a single mother. I am self-employed with a very supportive family that helps out alot with my children so that I can work from home. This was my first year filing mytaxes, like most people in this economy I looked forward to receiving my tax return. I dont have a bank account so I opted to use Walmart Moneycard and purchased two so that i could have one mailed to my mother also in my name in case of emergencies or what have you not for my children. I received my federal refund for almost $5000. I had it split up and my mom and I were both able to use them the same day I got my refund March 14,2012. When we went to use one of them again for $7.00 at walmart it was declined. I called immediately from my cell phone and was told there was fraudlent flags due to possible erroneous direct deposits. I was asked when the last time was that I made a payment which i was obviously able to verify along with my direct deposit. I was asked to send a copy of my tax return, photo Id and a copy of my ssn card.i was very reluctant at first but out of desperation and needing my money was misled to think that if I sent it immediately they would UNFREEZE MY CARDS...wrong answer. I kept being told that someone would call me back and that they would send a message with my ticket number to the RESOLUTION SPECIALIST DEPT na dwhen I asked to speak to someone handling my case I was told there were no phone numbers for them, they could only submit emails  on my behalf promising each time to have someone call me back. Stilllllllllll nooooo call. I went into pre-term labor that evening from the stress and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. I even had my mom fax my hospital papers so they would see the URGENCY for my money to be released on my card. Still nothing. I am being told it will take a minimal of 10 BUSINESS DAYS for someone to call me back and that this will still not guarantee my card would be unfrozen and that it could take up to 6mo...my chest and throat burn as I type this frustrated in tears. I don't understand how they have the right to do this. If the IRS releases our funds and understandably yes there is identity theft scams with tax returns but how can you play with people's finances even after they submit the documentaion and PROOF of NO ERRONEOUS  claims???? I will never use or refer them to anyone.I just received a text from my cousin saying they did the same thing to him today with his federal and state tax returns on his GREENDOT card. I cant believe Walmart even allows their name to be stamped on or associated with this company. I will continue to post on every board and file BBB claims everywhere I can be heard. What is worse is that the IRS said themselves that they had no rights to my money but because the IRS already released my funds to GE MONEY BANK AND SYNOVOUS that it couldnt be reversed for my balance. The lady I spoke with at the IRS said theyhave received several complaints and she couldn't believe they were doing this to so many people. Itleast the IRS for once was sympathetic but who else do we write, who else do we notify if GREENDOT only has one line to call and the operators there can only process the claims for you. If anyone has had any resolution yet with their tax refunds being the offset/flag please post here to give some of us hope as to how long it took and what had to be done. Thanks for listening and I hope everyone registers with this site to continue to give thsi company the bad name and rep it deserves!

IVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH GE MONEY BANK

Ive been a walmart GE Money bank customer for over a year now and have had several incidents that were resolved immediately by them.i find it wierd they gave you all this trouble.But after all they were just protecting you from theft.

They like to hold on to your money for as long as possible.They keep it a interest bearing account while"
THEY INVESTIGATE" the longer they" INVESTIGATE" the more interest they make.Think how much it would cost them to INVESTIGATE all of these accounts just because they are trying to PROTEST YOU.

Just don't use them.....GET THE PICTURE NOW?

 I would like to first thank RIPOFF REPORT for having this site and allowing us as consumers with VALID complaints against companies/businesses etc to post here. Also for giving us links and info on BBB because BBB also makes a difference. After posting on here and emailing the Better Business Bureau, I caught the attention of GE MONEYBANK who obviously is not aware of the issues we as consumers are having with their "SUPPORT LINES & CALL CENTERS" 

 Within 48 hrs of posting my complaint about GREENDOT MONEYCARD sponsored by Walmart that has their name on it, somebody from GE MONEYBANK saw it and wanted to make right what was done to me. I was given an email address CUSTOMER.ADVOCACY@ GREENDOTCORP.COM to contact by Nicole of GE Moneybank and within an hour of me emailing them I received a call from their corporate office apologizing and even crediting both my cards with $50. Though the $50 doesnt make right what they did or all the hardship they caused me, I was pleased to speak with someone who sincerely sounded like they cared and felt responsible. The gentlemen explained that because I purchased two cards it raised a flag, that is fair. However he did say that because I complied so quickly and submiited everything they needed for my case that it should not have taken so long to undo the freeze. So again, itleast we were both able to agree and FINALLY I was given an explanation and an apology. Also he was not aware that the deposit was from the IRS and that in itself is why I was not able to put the 2nd card in my mom's name because their policy states IRS REFUNDS CANNOT BE DEPOSITED IN ANYONE ELSES NAME BUT THE PERSON ON THE CARD/TAX RETURN.

I cannot say that I will use them again and hope to be able to open my own bank account now to avoid these kind of problems in the future.

Also for anyone having similar issues the DIRECT PHONE NUMBER TO REACH RESOLUTION IS 866-652-4611. I hope this helps anyone else having similar problems with getting a timely resolution.
