WalmartWalmart SuperCenter/door Greeter And Man Wearing POLICE Shirt Detained and cursed over sales receipt Clarksville Indiana

We were at the Clarksville Indiana Superstore on 12/19/08 at 18:09:16,when our purchase transaction had been made at front cashier by Donna. My husband who was pushing the cart after payment was made were leaving the store.He had asked me while I was walking to get a dollar out for the Salvation door greeter. I was fumbling thru my purse looking and walking , where upon arriveing by the subway sandwhich shop still in the store stopped and dug into my purse. I had not notice my husband had walked ahead and was still standing with my head down trying to zip up my purse when a loud voice I heard demanded " SHOW ME YOUR SALES RECIEPT" I looked up into the face of a man appx.5'10 ,grey bur hair cut , portly man standing directly in front of me. I was stunned and said only "what?", he then again stated I WANT YOUR SALES RECIEPT! I said I dont have one ( I had no cart nor packages on me and my husband was easy 20 feet away still moving forward) and began crying out to my husband in a panick I froze, I was afraid he wouldnt hear me!

My husband heard my cries, stopped dead and turn around ..seeing the man he left the cart and walked back to where I was with this man in front of me, asking what the problem was. He turned to my husband saying "I need a receipt to check that water sofner in your cart". My husband said is it your policy to stop a woman and demand a reciept from her when she isnt anywhere near a cart or has packages .....you dont need my reciept your being rediculous. The man then again stated SHOW ME YOUR Reciept for that salt! My husband replied" OK ok I will show you the reciept and since its so important to stop my wife the way you did , I will show you the reciept if you check every item in this cart, I certainly want you to make sure its all paid for . With that the man said I WILL NOT DO THAT, my hub said well seems logical if you are protecting walmart you want to check every item in the cart and you need to, again he Yelled I WILL NOT , then yelled OFFICER !

With the yell of officer, man appx six foot , bur hair cut large built with a Navy Blue T SHIRT made from a synthetic blend and the words appox nine inches wide if more with these letters P O L I C E jumped off a stool where he was sitting in Subway corner and walmart foyer entrance came over aggitated ( by his breath and his quivering lip when he spoke) . He never identified his self as a POLICEMAN or a Walmart employee. My hub said what policy is this to stop my wife and then demand a reciept ? THe police wearing t shirt man said " ITS WALMARTS POLICY TO CHECK ALL RECIEPTS AND IM NOT GOING TO TAKE YOUR s**t", exact words ! All this time I stood still watching and silent actually afraid. My hub held the receipt out and said you have been so rediculous with your behaivor over this...here is the reciept! With that the officer standing no more than eight inches to my right said the following. I DONT LIKE YOUR ATTITUDE AND YOU GET OUT OF THE STORE. I stood still frozen looking right into his face, it was then when I looked directly up at him ( Im 5'2") I did not move untill he walked away from me and hub kept saying your ok your ok come on lets get out of here.

Leaving the area we called 1-800 Walmart to report the door greeter and the man wearing the POLICE T SHIRT. I also later that night went to walmart site to customer service has a report store experience and stated a Man wearing T shirt and stated I was detained in the store by a door greeter and had no merchandise or cart near me. We are 54 and 55 years of age and I have never had anything like this done to me. I came home that night and wrote the above situation down ..that night as I was trying to think clear and figure out what I had done wrong....I never did give the Salvation door greeter his dollar and didnt go out anymore during the shopping season. The thought of every going to a walmart store has me strcken with actual knots in my stomach and I will not shop at their stores again. It was a nightmare and I never felt so afraid.

I want others to know about this , I never want a woman to feel afraid again standing in front of a door greeter and a man with POLICE on his shirt. That is the only reason I can relive this moment. Please be careful in walmart I was afraid of the POLICE T shirt man. I stood quiet with my heart pounding and not understanding what I did wrong. It was a frightening episode and I still dont know what I did wrong!
