My car was taken to Walmart July 20th for an oil change arrival time was 6:15pm, they finished at 8:03. As my son was driving home less than 10 miles from home the car broke down in the middle of the road.

I had to have it towed, and when they hooked it up there was oil spilled underneath my car and all over the wheels. There was no oil in my car.

Because that is my only source of transportation I immediately had to go online and rent a car so I could get to and from work. I went to Walmart to talk to the manager of the Tire & Lube and they had me fill out a customer complaint form.

I heard from Joe Baker at the complaints office and he assured me they would take care of me. He set up a rental car for me. I got a call from him today saying my car blew a gasket and it's not there fault. That is not what they were told by the repair shop that has my car.

Walmart messed up my car and is unwilling to fix it. I desperately need help.

Oil filter gaskets

AUTHOR: Ken - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 07, 2010

It is not uncommon for the oil filter gasket to become misaligned during installation.  It's one of the most common errors made during an oil change.

This could be difficult to prove, but if there is no oil leaking from anywhere else in the engine compartment, that could indeed pin it down to the filter gasket.

I have had nothing but bad experiences with WM in the car repair arena.  I wish you well.

it depends on which gasket blew..and why.

If it was the oil filter gasket..then Walmart can be held responsible since they replaced it with the filter they installed. I have seen those blow out due to using the wrong filter and it is a mess.

If the gasket that blew was unrelated to anything they touched during the oil change..then it would be really difficult to prove Walmart had anything to do with it, or that they should be liable.

i wish i could tell you something that would help, but being an associate of a tire and lube express if you blew a gasket and lost the oil in your car that is not anyones fault. it is called routine maint. any car is bound to have problems. i see them all day long. and everyone wants to blame someone else for their problems.

cars have to be taken care of or they will fail. period.

i know that people also make mistakes. but we do have procedures we have to follow.

we put torque seal on oil plugs and filters. it is a tamper proof seal. most shops it.

at our store if we break it we fix it. period. if we break a clip or cap because we used too much force then it is taken care of. alot of times we pay for stuff that is not our fault too. and we inform our customers of the problem. but when it comes to big things that we did not do and are being blamed for we fight it 100 percent.

gaskets go bad. i have had to replace some sort of gasket on all 3 of my cars. 1 oil pan and 2 vtec selonid gaskets. they fail. if you pay attention to your car you will notice the problems before they get bad.

but walmart will not pay for what is not their fault. fight it if you like it is worth a shot i suppose
