Last march, I purchased an Acer Aspire1 at Wal-mart.  Walmart knew that this was a fraud.  Acer Aspire is a rinky dink company and the warranty is worse than worthless.  Walmart knew this full well.  Walmart only has a 15 day warranty on the computers that they sell.  Acer Aspire is a rinky dink company.  Firstly, I had to register a serial number 23 digits long before they would even look to confirm that my computer was on warranty!!  Then they denied that I had submitted the correct serial number.  After 12 {!!!!!!!!!!} e-mails, customer "service" finally acknowledged that I had submitted the correct serial number.

I kept asking them for their local outlet so that I could take the laptop in and get it working again.  First, they asked a bunch of idiotic questions.  After a month, they finally answered my question by stating that I had to send the computer to houston, Texas!!!  What kind of prompt, local, cheerful service is that?  One of the  customer "service" representatives attempted to lie, stating that I had dropped the laptop and that's why it is all dark!!  Another rep said to mail it in.  I said what good would it do to mail {at my own expense} only to have you LIE and refuse to fix even though it is on warranty and it is dark through no sin of mine own.  Acer knows they sell defective products.   A "crack" began to show after I only had the computer for 4 months.  Then dark blotched showed.  I abused the laptop in no way.  Now Acer wants 199.00 even though my laptop is still on "warranty"!!

But the focus of blame goes to abominable Walmart.  Walmart, even when I pointed all of this out to the "manager", refused to refund as a decent public relations gesture.  They said the walmart "warranty" had expired.  So!!!!  What good is a 15 day warranty?!!  Walmart knows that they deal deliberately with evil companies whose "warranties" are worse than useless.  Imagine a warranty wherewith you have to mail the part in AT THE CUSTOMER'S EXPENSE!!  Walmart is to be shut down for violation of trade, dishonoring their promises, deceitful public relations, etc.

Manassas is where they cut off weiners!

AUTHOR: brownsong - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 27, 2010

Hahahaha! This is the most entertaining ripoff report I've ever seen! Hey, author, I see you are from Manassas, isn't that where that dude lived that got his weiner cut off by his wife 10 or 15 years ago? She cut it off after her raped her and fell in to a drunken stupor. Then she threw it out in the road. I think the name was Bobbitt or something like that. Boy, there sure are some wacko's in Manassas.

Hey, "I am the law", are you the same one that's on Craigslist from time to time? I love how someone can totally cuss you out to the nines and you come back all nonchalant and make perfect sense and put someone in their place. You are funny and smart. Keep it up!

Wal mart stink

AUTHOR: adn258 - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, May 22, 2010

I can see why the guy is pissed.  I'm not defending Wal Mart AT ALL.  I DO see people's opinions though in the sense that they sell some really shoddy merchandise and you SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT, and not shopped there.

That being said it's amazing how people defend Wal Mart so as to screw themselves.  It comes from that old American B.S. that maybe someday they will become rich and own their own Wal Mart type store and that everyone is equal; this is of course a fantasy.

That being said Wal Mart shouldn't be dealing with companies like that and since it's as big as it is, the Government needs to step in and regulate WAL MART WAAAAYYY! WAAAAAAAYYYYY more than it currently is.  All this lack of financial regulation and the deregulation are what caused the Mortgage crisis too; It's wealthy people screwing over the United States little guy(s).

POSTED: Sunday, May 16, 2010

This can not possiblt be a real post.  No one is this stupid.

Walmart does not warranty the computer for 15 days.  They have a RETURN policy for 15 days.  The manufacturer warrants it, NOT Walmart.  That seems pretty simple to me.

Give you your money back as a 'decent public relations gesture'?, get a life.  Why should they do that.

You are a liar, you broke your screen and will not own up to it like man.  You lied and you will burn in hell - LOL

Typical christian

AUTHOR: David - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, May 14, 2010

I have had an ACER Aspire 3150 laptop that I bought from Wal-Mart four years ago and have had NO problems with it what so ever. I take it with me when I travel and I even took it with me when I deployed to Iraq. So my ACER has been all over the United States and in a war zone and works just like the day I bought it.

Now for you to say that the screen just developed a crack, thats just unbelievable to me. A computer screen just doesnt crack by itself without any force applied to it. I myself have cracked three cell phone screens, and I never cried ripoff or wanted my money back. Sound familiar??? I had purchased insurance on my phones and paid the $45 claim to get a new phone instead of paying full price to get a new one.

Be a man about it, sack up and pay $199 to get the screen fixed. Abuse by the owner is not covered under a warranty and warranties have limitations to them. Face it everyone on here knows that you did something to your laptop to cause the screen to crack. Maybe you punched your screen in one of your temper tantrums while you were online. I not going to as you say and I quote put your money where your mouth is and give me $313. I am not going to give you any money and no one on here owes you any money to include Wal-Mart and ACER.

There I have said my two cents and now you can reply by calling my names, quoting bible verses, etc, etc, blah, blah, blah. Doing all that just shows how childish you really are. Be a man about it and own up and take some responsibility for your own actions and stop be infantile about it.

You have a super awesome day now, bye bye!!!

POSTED: Tuesday, May 11, 2010

FACT: Walmart posts their return policy in every store. In fact, it's at every single register and posted on the front wall as well.

FACT: Acer puts their warranty information in the box.

FACT: There is no ripoff here because, ripoffs, by nature, are unexpected by the victim.

So, basically what this comes down to is, you didn't research before anything you bought the item. That being said, you're calling ME an idiot? Whatever. Enjoy your broken computer.

WHAT A BIMBO, DIMWIT, DONKEY, NITWIT, DUMBBELL, IDIOT, IMBECILE, BRAINDEAD, DILLDOCK

AUTHOR: Nextaxpro - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, May 08, 2010

DON'T TALK   when you don't know.  Re-read my report, provided you can read.  I agreed to no sic a thang as a no-warranty "warranty".  To defend abominable Wal-abominable's funnysick joke of a fraud is heinous.  15 days is no warranty at all.  Heck, Walmart could order the cashiers not to adjust the dates for 5 days, so you are down to a ten day "warranty".  A warranty is supposed to be reasonable, not a panic mode.  When a product breaks down, it usually is a little over one year when it occurs.  Don't LIE in saying I agreed.  I figured Acer would honor their one year warranty.

As for Acer, there warranty is fraudulent also.  Acer bears false witness.  Acer has no intention of honoring their promises.  They want 2/3 of the price of the product!!  That's not a warranty.  A warranty means... oh forget it, you'll never understand the concept at your rate of retrogression.  You do not know what a dilldock is.  A dilldock is an idiot who is a dumb as a dock that is built to go out in a pond, lake or inlet.  As dumb as a log, a rock, a tree, sand, ashes.  That's you, dilldock.  Since you defend crime, pay me what Wal-abominable and Acer won't.  They still have not apologized to the world for STEALING from me and still have not made restitution.

Hey man, I'm not saying the Walmart warranty doesn't stink; I'm just saying that they post the return policy at every store (and I'd imagine possibly on the receipt, as well. Although I can't confirm that since I don't buy electronics there.) The computer company puts in their warranty information in the box. So, YOU KNEW what the policy was for both parties. I'm sorry that you got a lemon, but as far as I'm concerned, this is not Walmart's fault.

And, no, I'm not a dilldock. A dilldock is someone who buys expensive equipment without researching the computer company they're buying it from first. You lost. It's your fault. Move on.

4 months?

AUTHOR: I am the law - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 05, 2010

Ok, I won't dispute the fact that what you bought might be a lemon. I have no right to judge.

But...

The bottom line is is that the return policy is clearly posted in every Walmart store. Now whether you read it or not is a different story. That, and you said that the screen cracked, warped, whatever.. after four months. Four months? Most stores has a thirty or ninety day return policy which you were obviously past at that point. How does the screen crack on its own anyway?

My advice is to us the product's warranty. I know you have to pay $199 to use it, but to me, this responsibility is not Walmart's.

Robert you donkey.  You shot your own self down by admitting that they don't test "the second batch" and conclude that it is OK if the first batch goes through.  You have NO REPAIR EXPERIENCE WHATSOEVER!   Common sense tells you - if you ever worked on a car or anything complex - that EVERY MACHINE is different with different problems, quirks and idiosyncrasies.  You must, must, must test every machine.  You must be a brain dead government bureaurat NOT to know that.  You certainly were pulling our legs when you said you are in the repair business.  Even if you are, it is further incontrovertible proof that in the old days, businesses and people knew how to do things and to run things.  That is NOT the truth nowadays and you see proof of that every single day.  Repent or perish!  Luke 13:3.  By the way, Acer still has not made restitution and YOU have not put your money where your mouth is by making up for what the Walmart abomination and abominable Acer have not:  refund my hard-earned money.

And to defend the 15 day Wal-abominable warranty!  WHAT are you?  NOT who are you?  WHAT are you?  You may not have gotten the merchandise out of the package in 15 days!  And YES I did it carefully and did not poke it, smash it, bite it, stomp on it, drop it, toss it, javelin it, throw it, or ANY other lying accusations that your depraved mind may come up with.

Really amazed!!!!

AUTHOR: Robert - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, April 01, 2010

Ok first of all to the complainer, do you not understand the phrase "You get what you pay for."?

Here is how computers work, the company such as Acer (which is a good brand, not the best but far from the worst) make x amount of computers, they then divide that amount up into 2 batches. They pull x amount of computer from batch A and test them for use (power, booting up, screen, hardware, etc) if enough of those tested pass then they deem both batch A and batch B as good computers. But with computers hardware is VERY sensitive and you can actually purchase a DOA piece of hardware or computer it happens, which is why you had 2 WEEKS to return it to Wal-Mart, why did you even bother with Acer if you were within those 15 days?

Do you honestly expect every company you deal with the have a warranty depot where you live??

And why should Acer foot the bill to ship them the laptop? They didn't break it, you did.

I'm sure you're going to call me a liar and all that at this point, so to stop you in your tracks this is how *I* KNOW you broke it.

LCD screens on laptops will ONLY crack under certain conditions:
    a) You drop it, step on it, hit it, poke it, any physical action to cause it to have     blunt force acted upon the screen.

    b) You yanked the cover open, by forcing the lid to open faster than it's suppose to be will also cause a jarring action and can cause the screen to crack.

    c) Leaving it in the heat can also cause the screen to crack under then pressure.

I've worked in the repair field for over 20yrs, every single cracked LCD screen was a result of some type of force upon the screen. I've NEVER had a person bring me one that said "I don't know it just happened on it's own.".

Now about the $199, you are LUCKY they only want(ed) $199. A new LCD costs upwards of $500 or more, so $199 isn't a bad price. The reason they want $199 is because they like everyone else knows that something happened that caused the screen to crack (it was NOT a defect), so they are being nice enough to give you at least a partial warranty on the laptop. Be grateful none of the so called "high end" companies would even bother.

As for Wal-Mart, they are a DISCOUNT outlet store. Meaning they sell DISCOUNT items (i.e. not top of the line). They give you 15 days to return an item without much question (and Wal-Mart will take back just about anything of theirs), after those 15 days they can only assume the product was as expected and working fine, it's clearly stated on the receipt and registers. Every single company gives you only 15 days. Office Depot gives you 14, Best Buy gives you 14 days, pick a store and their policy is 14 to 15 days for electronics.

But what sets Wal-Mart apart from them is they are more likely to give you your money back where as the others will only exchange for the same item.

So instead of pointing fingers to find someone to blame for you're mishap, look within first and accept that through fault of your own you have a cracked screen on a perfectly good laptop.

Either shut your filthy mouth and apologize or give my 313 which I paid for the acer fraud. Thou shalt not bear false witness. Don't you dare lie!! it IS IS IS IS IS a ripoff. You know it. Thou shalt not bear false witness. Walmart is to be shut down for violation of trade, dishonoring their promises, abusing customers, trashing private property, deceitful public relations, etc.

If you think Wal-Mart "sells what people will buy"

thou shalt not bear false witness -Exodus 20:16, Deuteronomy 5:20.  You speak lies.  Read my original report.  If you think Walmart is so great, back it up.  Put your money where your mouth is. Pay the $199 that acer wants when it is on warranty.  Again, Walmart knows that this is a cheating company. Yet they sell the defective products, any way.

As for your assertion that Walmart sells quality, you'll sing a different song when YOUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN are poisoned by filth you bought at walmart.  98% of the inferior "foods" and merchandise are  products that  are made in China.

Acer Is Great

WTF you talking about? I love my $400 Acer with Intel Dual Core 2, Windows 7, 320HD, 3 gig Ram, HD LED Screen, DVD-RW etc etc, it is a fine machine, I first bought an HP for $800 and returned it dead out of the box, more expensive does not mean better quality.

BTW, we bought an E-Machines 10 years ago for less than $300 and it is still working great, waiting for Goodwill to come pick it up, our donation to them, a fine charity.

Info may help...

I get that you're upset that you bought a laptop and now it's busted. I get that you want to toss blame at the manufacturer and retailer.

Here's the thing...

In my experience, computer screens do not develop cracks by themselves.

Unless you have ghosts. Do you have ghosts? If your place is haunted, then maybe...but check with the local paranormal societies before tossing blame their way. (you don't want to piss off ghosts)

In all seriousness, the screen didn't just crack. You dropped it, or slammed it, or tossed it in the car, or the kids knocked it over, or the wife bumped it with the vacuum...some physical outside force created the crack, and that's the fact, jack.

I'm a poet and didn't even know it!

It was probably something so insignificant that you didn't even realize it happened at the time, like when someone points out a bruise or blood on your arm/leg that you didn't know was there and the life of you, you can't remember when or where you bumped it.

At this point, if you registered the product and it is under warranty, then you need to go after the manufacturer.

If it isn't covered, then you'll just need to pay to get it fixed... However, given the cost of repair, you'd likely be better off getting a new machine. Personally, I think you're a victim of bad luck, not a rip-off.

On a side note, Walmart owes you nothing after four months. After a retailer's standard return policy has passed, unless you've purchased some extended guarantee, your beef is solely with the manufacturer. Any belief that the retailer owes you anything at this point is simply unreasonable. Especially with an item such a laptop and the kind of damage its suffered.

Good luck.

You are mad at the wrong people...in fact you shouldn't be mad at all....

Wal-mart sells some junk products.....quick call the papers....I'll get CNN...we have to get the word out. I am sure nobody knows about this and that this is big news....OMG!

Did you know that Wal-Mart also sells some quality products?

Here's the deal....Wal-mart targets the largest denomiator of consumers with the widest selection of products they can. If you look at the computer selections at a typical super-center for example you'll see a range of brands and quality....you'll see super cheap Acers and Gateways and then more expensive Dells and HPs...that way a customer with $1200 to spend can buy a really good machine, but a college kid who just has $300-$400 to buy the cheapest hunk of junk there is just to get them by for now can buy that as well. Acer is almost the cheapest brand of computer on the market.....did it occur to you that when you buy the cheapest computer you can buy....that you are getting the cheapest one that can be made?....Did you stop to wonder..."My goodness, why is this one %45 cheaper than that one?" Are you saying that Wal-Mart should not ever carry the cheap ones....just don't even carry a "bargain brand" at all...because you don't think you should have to do any research to find out which brands are good and which are bad....that the "bad" ones should just be taken away all together and nobody should ever have the option just so you don't have to do any reading?

Doesn't a good part of the responsibility lie with you as the consumer? When you go out to by a car do you just buy the cheapest one on the lot without doing any research at all into the car's history or the general quality of that make or model? Do you just figure "Oh this one is way cheaper....there is probably no reason for that..."

Let me tell you why comapnies like Acer can exsist.....let me tell you why the business strategy they use WORKS and why they make LOTS OF MONEY.....because of consumers like you. You can't be bothered to do research, you can't be bothered to read reviews and ask around to see if this expensive piece of technology is worth your investment.....or you can't wait to save up the extra $350 to get the better quality machine....or you just can't afford it....

Whatever the case....as long as people are willing to buy crap without doing any research or fact checking....companies will keep making crap....and you don't get to be all vindictive and judgmental on them.....companies are out to make money...that is what they do, we as consumers have the ultimate power and athourity....what we buy and don't buy......

I'll tell you a secret.....if people did research first, and saw that a certain brand name was crap....and they never bought that brand....and the sales plummeted....then the company would stop making crap, or go bankrupt, and if the product didn't move off shelves at all, and just sat there collecting dust....then Retailers and vendors would stop carrying them.

It's not Wal-mart's fault......they sell what people will buy....if there is no demand for ultra-cheap computers, then wal-mart wont carry them...and who decided demand....oh yeah YOU as the consumer do.
