I took two birds critically ill to Dr. Rosskopf. My birds had been misdiagnosed and given the wrong medications by another vet.
Rosskopf's offices set up an appointment and charged me a lot of money. The money is not upsetting, but losing my bird is very upsetting
I would NOT recommend this clinic.
The office is extremely inefficient. The medical records I received for my birds, after one died, were inaccurate.
The office informed me the blood results for one of my birds showed her to be healthy when the laboratory had not completed their findings and had not sent any results to Rosskopf.
After my bird died shortly thereafter, approximately a couple of weeks later, I had the lab results Rosskopf's office provided me reviewed. (I had to make numerous attempts from Rosskopf to receive my birds' medical records and lab reports. Rosskopf's office acted as if I had no right to my birds' medical records or lab results.)
My birds' lab results I received from Rosskopf's office had many red flags that meant my pet was very sick. My bird died because Rosskopf and his staff misrepresented the true condition of my bird to me.
The records reflected my bird had lost a substantial amount of weight Rosskopf concealed from me. Rosskopf evidentally made a decision to cover up another vet's negligence rather than make an accurate diagnosis. He decided he would let my bird SUFFER and DIE rather than tell the truth. I am writing this for the sake of our pets.
Rosskopf did not mind charging me a lot of money for an office visit and a simple blood/culture test that he had not intention of being honest and ethical in his findings.
Very disturbing!

I have a bird and a lizard who are patients of Dr. Rosskopf. Both have been misdiagnosed repeatedly in San Diego, where I live. I drive 2 hours each way to see Dr. Rosskopf in Hawthorne, CA because he is the best exotic bird and animal vet anywhere. Both my lizard and bird are alive today because of him. He has been my veterinarian for over 50 years and I highly recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Rosskopf has taken care of my exotic animals for around 50 years. He is the best. I now live in San Diego and I drive to Hawthorne to see him. I have taken my bird and reptiles to veterinarians in San Diego, who have misdiagnosed them every time. I then have gone to see Dr Rosskopf who saved them after correct diagnoses. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

I took my birds to Dr. Rosskopf for years before I moved out of state. He is the father of avian medicine. Ask any avian vet who he is and they will knowabout him and will tell you the same.
He has described (created) surgeries heretofor never dreamt of to save bird lives. He established blood norms for parrots long before anyone ever thought of it... He is kind, knows birds, and one of the best bird vets on planet earth.
I find it impossible to believe that he would cover for any other vet. It is simply not in his character.
I have known him for more than 30 years... He's one of the good guys in the bird world. What every avian vet knows is becaues of Dr. Rosskopf knowing it first and others following suit and learning... that's how avian medicine is expanding.

I have taken all my family pets to Dr Rosskopf's (two pacific parrotlette, and my pampered pitbull) and he has provided great vet care for my little ones. I had horrible experiences with vets that have ripped me off by charging outrages prices in my times of sorrow but this is not the case. I highly recommend dr. Rospkoff to any family who considers their pets family. do your reaseach and you will see that he is highly educated and experienced.

I want to correct the above report. Rosskopf examined my two birds after they were in terrible condition because of another veterinary clinic's misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatments.
Rosskopf was given both birds' medical records from the other clinic. I later learned these records from the other clinic had been falsified and were inaccurate.
Rosskopf did some diagnostic testing of the birds, but he misrepresented the results to me. It appears Rosskopf chose to conceal information about both birds' health to cover up the other clinic.
One bird died and the other bird is permanently disabled because of the other vets' wrong/bad treatments, concealment, fraudulent medical records, fraudulent x-ray, misdiagnosis, etc.
By the time Rosskopf examined the birds, they were in bad shape. Rosskopf chose to do nothing and further concealed their condition.
If Rosskopf would have truthful, rather than covering up for the other vets, I may have been able to try something to help the bird that died. Rosskopf's medical records look like he wrote a report to help out the other vets rather than a medical record of the birds' health.
Rosskopf was nice enough to send a sympathy card. Just wished he would have been upfront and offered some advice to help my birds.
