Sent by email on 11/26/12 to Maria Gavin who canceled my 1-yr prepaid warranty on 11/20/12

Maria Gavin,
Claims Manager
Warranty Acceptance Corp

To set the record straight, my brother is a certified service manager and will become the dealerships service directory in the New Year. He's been there for 27 years. He started off as a certified Ford mechanic for roughly 10 years until back issues from an auto accident put him behind the service counter. My brother in law Jon is a computer programmer and Jim a retired NYPD. Neither are mechanically inclined. Lol.. My brother has a friend at his workplace who is a certified Ford mechanic who does work on the side at his house. Lift and all. I remember discussing this with someone at WAC. They mentioned I would not be able to use him because he doesn't have a registration number. Not an issue, since I've owned the car I've only taking it to the dealership. With this warranty that would've continued.

Now I'm being canceled by WAC because my brother and brother in law are mechanics? The contract doesn't mention that you can't be related to a mechanic or have a mechanic in the immediate family. Why would that be an issue? Also your warranty cancellation letter stated in response to my requested reimbursement for repairs. What repairs? What claim? How did you get involved with this? Never in my 7 years in the Allstate claims department have I seen this. Back in the day this would've been a sales or underwriting decision. Not a claims manager decision w/o a claim on file????

<<vehicles owned by mechanics, garage owners, body mechanic, or members of their immediate family>>  BTW, I'm the owner of the car. My 2003 Ford Taurus is not owned by a mechanic or anyone in my immediate family. Can you email me the clause under ineligible vehicles that applies to your decision to cancel my warranty coverage because I'm related to a former mechanic?  Please send me a letter stating that as the reason for my warranty cancellation?

Please share this email with Ms. Wilks. I thought it was quite odd that I received a cancellation notice dated 11/20/12 after my conversation with her on 11/19/12. If there were any doubts maybe she could've asked a few questions to clarify the account. I originally email a concern I had over the companies sales approach and contract wording. Ms. Wilks replied promptly the next day. Back in early November WAC sent me an offer to double my limits($79.99). Limits? Why wasn't that mentioned at the point  of sale? I know, it's my duty to read the contract, another concern of mine. It's worded instead of numbered. The only thing numbered is the aggregate lifetime benefit of 5000. Why not number the engine limit 3000, transmission 1500 and other components 500 to. Numbers are more of an eye catcher than words. Plus most people like myself don't read the entire contract word for word. I hope Ms. Wilks has the authorization to make some changes. After all they are simple ones to make.

Maybe next time call me before you hit the cancel button. Who can I call to file a complaint?

Love the Tide but after this drama....Go IRISH......Actually go Dawgs beat Bama...

FYI you are covered up to the NADA trade in value. That's the amount a dealership will offer on a trade in. NADA values are usually lower then the Kelly Blue book. Do yourself a favor ask questions at the point of sale and "READ THE CONTRACT".

They don't pay sales tax or diagnostic fees. Competitive bids on parts and Mitchell labors rates. They mentioned they pay the full labor rate. There's a lifetime 100 deductible.

I lasted 3 months (no claims) with them and I was paid up for the year until 08/2013....Good luck...
