It all started back in September 2001, I received a box of checks that were incorrect, they started them @ the incorrect #. I then called the bank to let them know, they told me to bring the checks in and they will order me new ones. The next day September 13, 2001, I returned the box of checks to a teller, she stated they would take care of these checks, and order me new ones.

2 weeks later someone was writing these checks. They had cleared our account out. They ended up writing over $3000.00 worth of checks that should have been shredded. I received a call from another washington Mutual customer that had a box of their checks stolen 1 week prior. The checks eneded up being stolen from someone with in the bank, whether it be a teller, the cleanup crew, I am not sure, but they are liable and are not helping me out in this matter.

I have left several messages @ their corporate office & have had no response back. It has now been 5 months and the bank has not once tried to contact me with any information. I believe they are hiding something. I have a detective on the case, but they refuse to talk to him also....

Your bank is responsible

AUTHOR: Tom - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 23, 2005

Of course your bank has to give your money back on checks drawn on your account that YOU did not sign. If the check does not have your signature then the bank is in error because they are supposed to verify each check to make sure it has your (or any other authorized) signature on it - and it must match, meaning not a forgery. That is the entire purpose of signing checks - signature verification. So much is automated these days that nobody sits down and looks at the signatures until something like this happens. BUT THE BANK IS RESPONSIBLE. GO GET YOUR MONEY BACK.

Contact the FDIC

AUTHOR: Cathy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 22, 2005

I contacted the FDIC about the Bank of America and washignton Mutual (both) and received a satisfactory response in 24 hours. In fact it was so fast that I had to look twice at the hand delivered (FED-EX)letter I receivd from The Bank of America apologizing for their actions. In my ase they were sending my payments to a prior (closed account) and charging me late fees for my openaccount. The debt in my open account was growing larger becuase they were not deducting the payments I was sending them. get your receipts for all transactions you can prove and write them at http://www.fdic.gov/. Remember that the FDIC insures their deposits.
