Washington Mutual Providian - PayPal Credit Card Continued Over Limit Fees and Late Charges Due to Charges They Made, So I'm Charged For Them Charging Me ripoff Dallas Texas

I have been a client with Washington Mutuals PayPal Credit Card through Providian for almost 2 years. During this time I was never late and paid more than the minimum each month. I saw my credit score rise each month.

Then, I was out of a job for over 6 months and had a little difficulty paying some bills. Although I didn't have a job I still paid MORE than the minimum each month until 2 months ago, I was late by 1 day. I was then charged a late fee.

Then, because of the late fee that put my account over the limit, so they charged me an additional fee for being over the limit. So basically I was charged a fee because of one late fee over a two year span and then charged for the late fee that THEY placed on my account!! That just doesn't seem fair right? I even went ahead and paid my normal payment that month, but because of the fees they added, it was less than the minimum. Then I was charged another late fee and another over the limit fee because of this one incident, which puts me further behind.

Well, I have tried talking to the company. The customer service is horrible. I asked if there was anything they could do, and I was told by a rep that she couldn't do anything until my account was current and the only way to do that would be if I paid all of the past due fees and the over limit charges that they have placed on my account! Huh? That's what I need help with! "So you want me to pay you for the problem I'm having with you, then you MAY help me with the problem that I am having with you!" This is just ridiculous.

I asked if there was anyone else I could speak to and I was given a supervisor who basically said the same thing and told me that I need to get my account current. "But, I haven't had a job for 6 months and I called you today to see if we can work some arrangement, so I CAN pay you your money. I just started a new job, can I get a break? I'm just trying to get current."

My answer was a resounding "NO!" I mean come on, I have been a customer of theirs for 2 years and made them thousands of dollars off of interest, but they can't even help fix this problem so that I'm able to CONTINUE paying them!

You would think that by calling in I would have shown some good faith by not avoiding them and trying to work things out, but they close off every opportunity to work things out by CHARGING non stop charges: for one late payment that caused a late fee, that caused an over limit fee, that caused another late fee, that caused another over limit fee, that will continue to put me further behind each month, racking up fees into the thousands if THEY don't stop the MADNESS!

Even when I am trying to be legit with this company, they continue to blow me off so that they can make more money off of me. Because of this my credit continue to be ruined more and more each month and they won't even respond to my concern. My credit score has dropped 70 points in about 2 months! This is killing me financially and tearing up my future buying power. This is very disappointing because my credit score was just at 699, yeah just shy of 700. That may not be the best credit score, but it's the best I had ever had. I'll just have to say good bye to good credit for a while.

Save yourself from this problem. If you have a Washington Mutual Credit Card in good standing, switch it as soon as possible, because I used to be where you are but "ONE" minor mistake has already cost me hundreds and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight. If you don't have a Washington Mutual Credit Card, don't get one, no matter how much they attempt to bait you in with rewards and bonuses. Consider yourself warned.
