Washington Mutual has provided me nothing but problems. They have horrible workers, especially the Washington Mutual off of Blossom Hill next to San Jose Skate. I have recently jointed accounts with my fiancee, when I went in a worker named Josef continuously told me to open a credit account with them, I replied, "Well, what's the apr %?" He ignored me and kept talking about all the "good stuff" that you can do with it.

Without my consent, Josef sent in a credit application. I asked him why he did that, and that I did not sign any papers allowing him to do that, he then replied, "Oh, well not a big deal, I sent it in already, so you'll just get a paper in the mail stating that you are denied and that you applied for a mastercard from Wamu". Very frustrated with what he had did, I replied, "O.K, what you are not telling me is that this counts as an inquiry and will take off points from my credit report, so what are you going to do about it?".

"Don't worry, it won't count as an inquiry". With his word in mind, I called customer support, they told me otherwise. They stated that it would be counted as an inquiry, so I stepped back into the bank and spoke to him asking him to stop the application especially because he had no consent to submit it in the first place. He was trying to go around the situation, so I asked to speak to his manager.

He then took forever getting a manager over, his manager (an Asian guy-I believe he is the asisstant manager) came over and had his back completely which irritated me even more. He did not even want to speak to me, he basically repeated what Josef had said to me, which then gave me reason to believe what took him so long is telling him the story. I then asked, "O.K, so how do I know this did not go onto my credit", the manager then replied "dont worry it wont"...just as his employee had done so, then the manager continuously stared at me awkwardly, as if telling me to leave. I left.

Washington Mutual then hits me with another problem, I drive all the way to the bank to deposit some cash, yet it is messy and there are no envelopes. So, I just wasted gas and mileage on my car, thanks Washington Mutual!...

When I finally have time to deposit cash into the WaMu account, I drive over once again, on my time, and deposit three hundred to the bank in cash, a week later I receive a letter claiming that they have put a hold on my account to "count up all the money from the checks deposited". What I can't seem to grasp is why they put a hold on my account for "counting up the checks" when I deposited cash.

I will now be closing my accounts with Washington Mutual, I am tired of being treated like crap by their employees, and getting walked all over when it is my money that is going into this bank. Washington Mutual is dirty, useless, and has poor customer service. I am very disatissfied with this bank, I recommend it to nobody.

what they did was illegal

AUTHOR: Allie36 - (U.S.A.)

It is absolutely illegal to run someone's credit without their consent. Unless it is in paperwork that you signed when you opened your bank account. I can tell you that if you contact your credit bureau and advise them you did not give consent to run your credit they can and will remove the inquiry.

Hope this helps. I too was a washington mutual customer for a long time and I am happy I am not any longer.

Maybe consider going to a credit union. That is what I did. They are not only user friendly but they are not fee driven like banks are.

Good luck with everything.
