From the time Water Equipment Technologies installed product in our home, we've been having mildew smelling issue with our clothing.
We purchased the GE Avantapure system from Water Equipment Technologies in April 2014. We noticed an awful smell on our clothing within 2 months of having it installed. All of our towels and clothing smelled like mildew. It was awful!! The minute you would start to sweat, the smell would come out. Or the best is coming out of the shower to dry yourself off with a moldy smelling towel.

We put off contacting WET, because we just could not fathom that something that cost us $6,500 was the root of this issue! We kept putting it off! That was until I called WET in August, and discovered they've had this issue before with other costumers!! and most likely it was just a part that needed to be replaced. From there, it went to, "Just install this fan in your washing machine", to "let us test your water for sulfur" to "here, use this solution to clean out your washing machine once a month." NONE of these options have resolved this long lasting issue. When we contacted WET asking them to remove their faulty equipment, their response was that our washing machine is the problem, not their equipment. The owners claim if we would keep up with the maintenance of our washing machine, we wouldn't have the mildew issue.

I would just like to know, how many people actually run a MONTHLY cleaning cycle on their HE washing machines?! Nevertheless, even with the monthly cleaning cycles, we are still having the ISSUE! They offered to pay us $500 for our troubles. My response to that is, I am NOT paying $6,500 for a piece of equipment that is RUINING my clothing! $500 is not going to fix this issue. Their most recent offer is $2,000. Again, unacceptable. This will not resolve this long lasting issue that I will be dealing with for the rest of my life!!!

I again asked WET to remove the system from my home, or refund us $5,000. They responded that their offer stands at $2,000. After reading some of the other complaints, I see that this piece of equipment is HIGHLY overpriced!! Unbelievable that this company is preying on people who just want clean water in their homes. How sad! They didn't even disclose to us that we would have an issue with the mildew smell because of our HE washing machine, which apparently they already had experience with. Had they told me of this issue, I wouldn't have wasted my time or money!!
