I was a free member and all was fine. Then I decided to purchase a month of Premium, at a first month discounted price, to see if I thought it was would be worth the normal monthly amount which was twice as much. During this time, I painstakingly built a wordpress site from the bottom up and created quite a few blog posts on the subject of my website. I was told that I could always take my website later and migrate it to a new server if I decided not to stay with WA. I did lots of campaigning for my site in other places on the internet and it quickly became a thing.

Well, towards the end of that first month, I did indeed decide that I wanted to leave WA and move everything to another host. Should've been no big deal right? Wrong! I was told that I need to cancel my reoccuring subscription or I would be charged that full price in a few days.....so I did that. I then immediately lost access to my members area, so I was unable to access my own website and, on top of that, my website was no longer working at all. The domain was blank!

I contacted WA Tech Support and they were very rude and said alot of very confusing stuff that just seemed like a run around to me. They then said to wait a few days and contact them again. They said they would give me instructions on what to do at that time. I waited and then went back to the WA site to contact them again and was denied all access to all areas of the website unless I paid the full amount for a premium membership!

I can click on absolutely nothing anywhere on that website without  it popping up telling me to pay! I am so disappointed by this and I've lost every bit of my hard work and Wealthy Affilliate essentially has stolen my Intellectual Property. I need my files so that I do not have to start everything over from scratch at my new host, but WA refuses to give me access.

#5 Consumer Suggestion

Both Extremely Excellent and Very Horrible

AUTHOR: Kelly Clover - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, January 17, 2016

I am currently with Wealthy Affiliate. Based on my experience I don't see them as an outright scam or anything like that. But there are both extremely good things and very bad things to say about them. Here is my general take:

1. They have excellent training programs that are extremely difficult to find elsewhere.

2. Their plugin (Jaaxy) for finding good keywords is one of the best around and it's not all that expensive.

3. Their servers are way too slow. You take the risk of losing customers because of their heavily overworked servers that cause webpages to take too long to load.

4. Their webhosting costs substantially more than a typical webhost.

SPECTACULAR TRAINING, HORRIBLE SERVERS, HEAVILY OVERPRICED WEBHOSTING

If you view Wealthy Affiliate as a very expensive webhost that has extremely good training programs but very poor servers I think you have the right general picture of them. Within a very short period of time after signing up for the first month of premium membership I knew I would be leaving the company within 1 or 2 months. I need the training they are offering. It's really, really good. What I don't however is the very poor grades I'm getting on Google Pagespeed Insights and G T Metrix because of their heavily overworked servers. Neither do I need the heavily overpriced webhosting. I haven't told the owners of the company my plans. I will probably make copies of my webpages and store them in my computer so I can re-create them on another website if need be. I plan to milk their training for all its worth and move my website to another webhost where pageload speed and heavily overpriced webhosting are not issues.

The original report I'm responding to is helping me to navigate my current situation with the best possible final outcome.

I was told that I would have 30 days....yes, but that simply was NOT the case. When that time came, I was then actually told that I only have 3 days to get it done. So, I did. I moved over to a new host. The problem, as I've already explained, is that WA denied me any and all access to my content! Even the new host attempted to help me retrieve it, but WA completely shut me out and ceased all communication to this very day! I hate WA. They're con artists!

What Happens to Your Site When You Leave WA

AUTHOR: Kae - (Canada)

POSTED: Friday, May 22, 2015

When you leave Wealthy Affiliate, you have 30 days to transfer your site to your own domain before it is deactivated.   You may wish to read this post on the WA site for a more complete explanation.

Not A Peep.....

Unfortunately, nothing was ever done for me. It's been 5 months now and to this day I am unable to make any contact with anyone from WA. I've sent multiple emails to both of the owners with no response. In fact, their provided email addresses must be fakes because it always returns an invalid email error when I try to email them. I'm sorry, but I must still strongly advise against any dealings with this company. My direct email is robby_duncan@yahoo.com if you would like to correspond further about it. Thanks!

Update please?

I'm just curious as to what, If anything has happened since you filed this report?  I have been contemplating joining but I'm not so sure now. You aren't the first person I've seen with pretty much this same complaint.  I'd like to know if they have done anything to fix this problem.  I kind of wonder why noone is defending WA here.  There are people affiliated with them that do read these reports and I am curious as to why none of them have made a rebuttal on WA's behalf.
