We bought a house in October 2000. Financed it through First Security. One month after closing I recieved notice that Wells Fargo and First Security Merged and that we were to make payments to Wells Fargo. So we did at the local branch because we had not received a coupon book from them yet.

By Febuary 2001, we were getting a little worried having not recieved anything from Wells Fargo concerning our loan, not even a monthly statement. So we called them. We were told that we didn't have to make a payment until December 2001. Of course we didn't believe that and pursued it further. Which is when they determined that our mortgage was sold to Idaho Housing. And we were to pay Idaho Housing.

So we did. We were given a loan number For Idaho Housing and an address to send our payments to. After not recieving anything from Idaho Housing by June 2001 I wrote them a letter.

I recieved a quick response from them stating Wells Fargo held our mortgage and they would forward all of the payments we made to them back to Wells Fargo. Two days later we recieved a letter from Wells Fargo stating that they had sold our mortgage to Idaho Housing and would forward all of our payments to them. Does anyone else see a problem with this?

So, we contacted both places and it was determined that Wells Fargo held our mortgage and it was just a big misunderstanding. So we continued to make payments to Wells Fargo.

Keep in mind this entire time we have not received a coupon book or a single monthly statement from Wells Fargo with each person we spoke with saying they were requesting a statement to be mailed to us right away.

In September 2001 we recieved a letter from Wells Fargo stating that they were staring Foreclosure Proceedings on our house because we had not made any payments to them. This was received the day before we were to leave for vacation.

We postponed our vacation. We went straight to the local branch with all of our paperwork and all of our cancelled checks to prove we made all of our payments. The branch manager did help us, the first person to care from Wells Fargo. (or maybe she just cared because we refused to leave until this was straightened out.)

We were told they had to restructure our loan. And again that they were mailing us a monthly statement and a coupon book. This being our first mortgage we were really lost and had no one to trust but Wells Fargo. Big mistake.

So, we continued to make our payments and call them every month for a monthly statment and a coupon book only to not recieve them. By December 2001 we were told we were a payment behind. (We were only told this because of our phone calls, we were never notified by mail.) Again we faxed every cancelled check we had ever written to them and again they said it was a mistake and it was taken care of along with the coupon book and the monthly statements.

We requested the research team to figure out our loan and send us documentation showing how each payment we made affected our mortgage. Which we recieved in about two months. And here's the kicker, the paperwork they sent us was for someone elses Mortgage in Mississippi!!! And they just didn't understand why I was so upset. Needless to say we never recieved the paperwork we were after even after I had one rep say she was personally mailing the paperwork while I was on the phone.

This all happened again in January 2002.

At this point both of us had lost our jobs and a lot of personal things happened. Needless to say we were unable to keep our house. So we worked with Wells Fargo so that we could do a short sale on our house. We felt this was the best choice for us.

From Febuary until June 2002 we did not make a payment nor did we receive anything from Wells Fargo showing that we had not made payments. In June 2002 we got an offer on our house. Wells Fargo excepted with hesitation (because they thought the house should have been foreclosed on already). (I thought it was there fault for not foreclosing as we had no control over what they do.)

On July 25, 2002 we sold our house and signed the papers. We were told by Wells Fargo the title company would issue the 1099 tax forms that we needed. Which they did. However, Wells Fargo did not send us anything about our mortgage.

I had checked my credit and the mortgage is still on my credit. Which I didn't feel like dealing with Wells Fargo ever again so I let it go, unitl now. September 2003.

I have made several phone calls to Wells Fargo to get this mess straitened out only to be passed off to the next person.

I have been told that they have no record of us selling our house, that our credit is correct because it was a short sale (but our credit still shows that we owe a monthly payment and we owe the full amount of our mortgage.) I was told that the short sale is complete when we recieve 1099C forms from them, (it's been over a year, I think we should have gotten them by now) but no one at Wells Fargo seems to know who sends out the 1099C forms and most of them dodn't even know what that is.

The person that handled the short sale will not return my phone calls nor will her supervisor. I wrote a letter to them stating my current problem. No response.

They have also said that there was a problem with the check to pay off the mortgage and so the short sale is not complete because we still owe them late fees.

However, when the other person who was on this mortgage called them, after they told me everything was taken care of, they told him that the house was foreclosed on with the proceedings starting in August 2002 and completed September 3, 2003.

This bank is so messed up. No one knows anything, nor do they care to figure anything out. It has been almost 3 years since we started this and to date I have never recieved a monthly statement, a coupon book, documentation that the house was foreclosed on (as they think it was), documentation showing that the short sale was completed, or that there is a problem with the short sale, or the tax forms needed to file last years taxes.

This is not even half of what we've dealt with from them, this is only the highlights.

My advice to everyone: NEVER GET A MORTGAGE THROUGH WELLS FARGO!!!

If anyone has any advice, please feel free to put your two cents in. I don't know what else to do.

Well Fargo --what a headache

AUTHOR: Janet - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 06, 2003

I too had a bad experience with Wells Fargo. Although not as bad as the previous two reports, it was still aggrevating.

On or about September 1st 2003 we refinanced our home. When we sat down at the settlement table we asked the specific question 4 times as to whether or not we had to pay Wells Fargo the final payment for Sept. All four times we were told "NO you do not have to mail in a Sept. pymt. You will send it to your new mortgage company" Well don't you know it--- October first 2003 I rec'd a bill with a $60 late fee tacked on for non payment of Sept. It took close to 4 weeks before it was taken care of and only because WE did all of the leg work. NOT Wells Fargo. My advice is document all conversations. Names, Titles, time of call. If I did not have names of people who promised me things, I would not have had a leg to stand on when I threatened attorney involvement.

Sue the pants off of them!!

AUTHOR: Lindy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 05, 2003

Please find yourself a good lawyer and sue them. Sue them individually not in a class action law suit, they will win with a slap on the hand with those.

I am in the same mess as you because of Theifing Wells Fargo...who gave them a license to steal? I would go to jail and so would you if we tried these underhanded tricks!

Don't hesitate, call NOW...Put a stop to this and maybe others will not be taken in by thier incompatant business additude.
