Please note that you can report any and all fraudulent or deceptive business practices of financial institutions to the Federal Trade Commission. IE Wells Fargo Automated system for account balances. They tell you that it includes the following transactions not yet posted to the account, but it dosnt and you end up over-drafting, also how they charge you to speak to a person when you call.

The Federal Trade Commission has an on-line submissions for this. This is how many credit card companies and banks are forced to change the reporting and banking practices to correspond with the laws that govern them.

I am a former credit collections agent and had to keep abreast of many of the laws and actions etc. and that is where I went to make sure the company was in compliance.

Over Drafts

AUTHOR: Liz - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 25, 2004

I've worked in the financial industry for 10 years and as a heads up, overdraft charges and the such are not considered a violation of your rights, because they are stated in your terms and conditions whenever you open an account. It is assumed you took the time to read them or had someone read them to you from the issuing corporation if you are illiterate or have a disability. Unfortunately, this applies even when a phone system provided you with information b/c that is a verbal confirmation and not in writing. Also when you open a bank account you agree to maintain and stay on top of withdrawals and deposits, etc. I know, it may seem like a rip-off to make yourself responsible, but when you hear this complaint over and over it can make you realize some people just don't have control over their financial situation and blame it on a faceless corporation. My advice: balance your checkbook EVERY SINGLE time you have any activity...hope this helps.
