Wendy Diamond runs her entire business and image on the belief that she supports and fights for the empowerment of women, which could not be further from the truth. Diamond's Animal Fair and Women's Entrepreneurship Day organizations exist solely for the promotion of her personal image and individual profit.

Diamond recruits young and driven female university students from around the country with no exchanged monetary support whatsoever. She demands a minimum of 50+ hours of work from these young women in which she provides no training, weak leadership, and little educational support. Additionally, she takes pleasure in patrionizing, berating, and being emotionally unsupportive of her interns. As a former intern, I found Diamond to be unappreciative, unorganized, and extremely unprofessional.

Assignments were often delivered to interns at the last minute with little direction or assistance. Diamond never took responsibility or held herself accountable for her own mistakes and errors and always placed full blame upon the interns and volunteers.

Currently, Diamond's main brand is "Women's Entrepreneurship Day" -- a global organization with the core being an annual conference held at the United Nations. Celebrity speakers turn out for panels and attendees have the potential to gain a lot from the event. The main event during the conference is when specific celebrities are honored for their work to empower women in their communities. These honorees receive awards from "children in Africa." These children are supposedly receiving something in exchange for their art. However, rumor had it... during the time I was involved, that Diamond had children in the Bronx make artwork for these honorees. I can't confirm this, but I absolutely believe this to be true. To me, Diamond is a complete fraud.

While I was only involved with WED, I've heard from others in the New York animal non-profit community that Diamond has made a bad name for herself and is heavily disliked by animal-centered organizations. To give her some credit, Diamond has raised and donated a lot of money to many animal charities in the New York area. That fact is undeniable. However, it is my opinion that Diamond has little genuine interest in caring for animals. Just having the ability to fundraise and donate money, does not make you a good person. From my experience, it seems that Diamond found a market that had not been tapped into and made it into an industry, with herself at the center. For example, Diamond makes a point to bring her dog and her dog's husband to all the events promoting women's empowerment. Including the annual conference at the United Nations.

Overall, I found Diamond to be unlikeable and unprofessional... and a fraud. There are thousands of incredible organizations, both for-profit and not-for-profit, that are focused on empowering women. Involving yourself with Diamond, her "organizations," and the WED conference is not necessary. I write this hoping that future volunteers, interns, and donors will invest their time, energy, and passions into a different and better organization.

Finally, having worked with Diamond in the past and knowing the way she operates, it appears to me that the comments on this site are likely all written by her or from her close friends. All of the young women that I worked with during my time at WED would never have written a positive review of her leadership, personality, or organization. Perhaps RipoffReport can look into the origins of the positive comments... because I don't buy it.
