Westbury Auction Galleries, Inc. "Bait & switch Advertising" - the item shown & had paid for, was not the same item sent. The appraisal report shipped with the item does not match the item itself. The item received was just a copy of the advertized and bought item. La Crescenta California

I won a bid and paid an item and received a totally different one. Westbury Auction Galleries shipped a different rolex watch from the one I supposedly have bid & paid for. As soon as I received the item, I tried to get hold of Westbury. I kept calling and calling, but to no avail. Due to my frustration, I called the appraisal person. To which of course, he claims - he has nothing to do with the shipping of the item" and that he only appraised them. I even begged the appraisal to give Westbury a call for me and to double check, if I have the right number. He was nice enough to call me right back within 5 mins. to inform me that yes, I have the right number and that a representative from Westbury will call me right back. I've waited and waited...no one called me back. I feel so hurt, allowing Westbury auction galleries just take my "hard-earned money", just like that! I saved up my money all year, so I can treat myself this Christmas. I am an old widow, to be a victim of fraud. Can somebody direct me where to go next? I need to know how to get my money back? Westbury had me wired the cash for payment. How can I make a report to the right people to stop them for treating customers like this? Please help.....

Shannon Bavaro, (Client) dishonest & uncooperative

AUTHOR: Westbury - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, June 14, 2015

Shannon Bavaro, (Client) was very problematic, dishonest & uncooperative - Shannon Bavaro called and spoke to our customer service representative (Edwin) numbeous times, wanting to complete the payment for a won item (Cartier Panthere 18K Gold Wristwatch) using two credit cards. We advised client that the company does not accept such payment method as it is very risky & fradulant to process two credit card for a single item transaction - This policy is common in the jewlery auction industry and necessary due to the nature of the business. We suggested cllent to use PayPal to securely complete the payment. Shannon Bavaro's response was that we did not want her husband to find out about her purchase thus she wanted to use the two credit cards to complete the transaction. We then advised client that we could not accept her payment in such matter and that the transaction would be forwarded to the Auctioneers for a review/cancellation.

Client's criticism about company is dishonest & untrue. Auction Company was established in 2012 and currently hold a valid bond as required by Cal. Civ Code 1812.600 - Company has conducted over 400+ live auctions with 1000s of satisfied customers.
