Western motors Choice Motors Fraudulent, Reneging at its worst, thieves, bullies Merced California

 I got out of the military, where i received my "Secret Clearance", after serving honorably for 5 years and a single tour to Afghanistan. I no longer saw the need for a truck bed and a gas guzzler vehicle since i didnt have all the gear to lug around from work to home back and forth, so i wanted something smaller. I wanted to purchase a vehicle, and my daughter recommended a company she'd heard about through a good friend of hers, Choice motors, I decided to give it a shot. I only had $1,700 to put down, so I didnt expect to drive away that day. I found a few cars that peaked my attention but didnt want to get attatched to any until I found out what my budget could afford me. Immediately, a salesman tells me I should test drive a car and I politely declined. He insisted I test drive it and again, along with a few more attempts I declined. Finally I said maybe I should speak to another salesman because my goals weren't being respected. The next salesman did the same. So did the one after. I got frustrated and said maybe I just needed to come back another date because i let them know how much i had and what i hoped to get my payments at and they kept saying "We can talk about that when you get back" or referencing that idea. When i started walking off the lot a man runs up to me and apologizes for how the salesmen behaved and lets me know he is in fact the owners brother and would like to reshape my opinion on how customers there can expect to be treated. I accepted under the condition that he not sugarcoat whether or not i would be able to get a $9,500 car at $250/month if i leave $1,700 down, he says thats more than enough because some people only leave $500 and most of them have terrible credit. So we agree on a car that fits my payments. I even had my daughter cosign. Documents get signed, cash is exchanged hands and i drive off. About 2 weeks later i get a call saying i need to come in to sign papers. I agree and show up to sign papers that i remembered signing already but chalk it up to possibly them getting lost.

A week later and a week prior to my first payment due, they call me and tell me i wasnt able to be financed and unfortunately needed to bring the car back. Confused, i asked what that had to do with anything if we had already signed a deal n that what would happen with my down payment and get assured I'd get "some" of it back because theyd only be charging me as a rental as a courtessy for the inconvenience. I disagree with that option because i looked into the legalities of thier changed mind and found out our contract was very much a legal and binding one. They say ok they'd let me know if there is anything i needed to do. They call back asking how the vehicle is running and to ask if theres anything they can do for me, i decline. I mail in my payment in form of a money order and it gets returned to me only now it has "VOID" clearly written across it. And that same day i get a call from them claiming theres more forms to sign. Two days later i get a call saying theres been a recall on my vehicle and i need to bring it in ASAP for work. Then a few days later i get a threatening voice mail stating theyre going to report it stolen. A few days after that i get a call from the deepest slowest voice anyone has ever heard... They used an app to leave me a message claiming they were an officer but never disclosing for what department, and that i needed to return the car or i would go to jail. Next payment is due so i mail it in along with last months payment. It gets returned to me just like the first one, "VOID" written in big red marker across the front. I assumed these were for my record keeping or my receipts. A few weeks go by and then the sherriffs department contacts me asking my side of the story to what i thought was an already settled issue. He agrees with me that this is not a matter where any crime was commited and we hang up.

Nearly 3 or 4 months go by, i moved to a new house, and out of the blue an"investigator" calls me threatening that if i didnt bring the car back it was going to be repossesed and i would lose my down payment. I tell him I have been sending in my payments and dont understand why it would get repossessed and he lets me know they have not been cashing them, and have all been returned. So not only can I not cash them back in because they say VOID in huge letters they also made it legal to repossess my car any day now. Im infuriated by this and tell him i will no longer be sending in my payments, but send them anyway getting the same results. A year or so goes by, I've put miles on this car, even gotten in a few accidents, its gotten dirty, a lil body damage and a few things stop working on the car. They just wouldnt take my payments, they continued to write VOID on any money orders i mail in. Then last month (May 2017) i walk out of my house to see it being towed by none other than Choice motors. I still dont understand the logic in thier system of operating.
