We transferred $400 to my grandson via Western Union, and it cost $40.99 transfer fee, totaling $440.99. When my grandson went into Walgreens in Mesa, AZ to get the money, they told him he could only get $300. At no time during the transfer were any limitations mentioned. My husband and I have wasted over two hours on the phone with Western Union's customer service reps, who are difficult to communicate with, because they do not speak fluent English.

After our first call, the rep assured us my grandson could get the money the following day, since Walgreen's had closed. When my grandson went back the next day, they still refused to give him $400, and said their maximum is $300. There is a sign on their kiosk that says $400 is the maximum.

So the my grandson went to a Safeway, which is where the Customer Service rep told me to tell him to go, and they refused to accept his ID, because he just got his Driver's License, and it's a temporary license on paper.

Anyone using Western Union, beware. Once they get your money, the person you sent it to will not be able to get the money without extreme hassle. As of now, my grandson still can't get the money.

Absolute Deception by Western Union

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Saturday, March 04, 2017

There is nothing on my phone ap when I transferred money that Walgreens limits money transfers to $300. You have taken $440.99 from me on March 2, 2017 that I sent my grandson, and he is still unable to get it as of March 4. He went to a Safeway, and their limit is not $300, but they won't give him the money. He has ID and the MTCN confirmation number. You are committing fraud upon the consumers, taking money and refusing to release it. I will be filing a complaint with the Consumer Affairs next if he doesn't get the money today.

No Deception

The Western Union site states, “Walgreens has a limit on the amount that can be picked up of $300” so that nullifies your claim of deception. You should praise Safeway for requiring a picture ID.
