My wife and I were looking in auto trader for used Volvo XC90, we like the vehicle for it protection for our family . We saw one in a local used dealer in Miami, Florida. We went out  to look at the truck but we felt very uncomfortable buying the vehicle from a used dealer we did not know anything about their reputation. Well we decided to go to Weston Volvo because we would be backed up by the quality and honesty of a known dealer. Well shoppers! beware! Weston Volvo sold us all lies. They sold us a used vehicle we like, but that is all. When we purchased the XC90, the same day we saw it advertized for less in Auto trader at Weston Volvo, same vehicle. It was $3000 less than what the salesman(Ricardo), negotiated with us . We call him the same day we left the lot and explained the price on the , and he said, "Sorry we cannot help you there". The car did not have any key less entry and we had to dish out another $500 to order them. The sales man did not tell us anything of that during the sales process. His words, " Sorry we cannot help you there, sales are final". Another lie, our front head lights were very fuggy and dirty and the salesman promised to clean them, well another lie. They were never done.  Since it was a used car it did not come with any warranty and guess what, yes, two months later the Drivers side window fell down. We call the sales man again and he said, " sorry we cannot help you there". We had to pay for this repair, and it was very, very expensive, another $600 down the drain. We brought our car to Tire plus for service and they told us the breaks were all bad, and yes another, $1200 down the drain. A few more months into this vehicle the shifting handle began to lock up, it would not shift from reverse to neutral . Another expensive repair. To make a long story short. Now the transmission is bad, another $6000, the radiator broke, $4500, the air conditioner condenser leaked, another $1400, the turbo was bad another $2500, the transmission damaged the front end and guess what another $2100 in repairs. We can back up all this with receipts.
We have only had the XC90 for 3 years and we are still paying for it. We pay a monthly fee of $457 per month, at 12% interest. We were taken for a ride. As an host shopper, and a business owner I would never treat a client of mine like this.  Please be careful.

I'm couldn't help laughing

I'm not unsympathetic to what y'all went through, but I got to be honest. As the "death toll" kept mounting with the repairs you itemized, after passing the $4500 radiator job I got a giggle attack. Considering what you spent on this piece of crap, y'all could have taken a decent course in mechanics and fixed it yourself. A Volvo once rear ended our Nissan Sentra and the Volvo was totaled. The 12 year old Sentra wasn't. This isn't the reliable Swedish tank from years gone by anymore. Volvo spent years owned by Ford, and it shows. Why anyone would buy a used car putting them almost $500 a MONTH in the hole is beyond me. Take Coast's advice. And no, none of us work for the dealer. If you read enough reports here, that will be obvious.

educate yourself

You need to learn the market price of goods and services before paying for them. Don't allow yourself to be an easy target. A mechanic will check out the car for $100-$150 prior to the sale. Good luck in your future ventures.

Weston Volvo sells Used Lemons

AUTHOR: sammy - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 05, 2011

You are correct, we are living in a sinister world. There is no honesty any more. We purchased our used Volvo from Weston Volvo thinking they would do the right thing by us. Which is not the case here. What happen with the radiator is that the radiator broke and it leaked fluid into the transmission. We had to repair the radiator and flush the transmission many times to get the transmission liquid out. The transmission fluid also went all thru out the entire engine system and that need needed to be flushed as well all the damages it caused. We also needed to rent a car while our XC90 stayed at the shop.
In regards to the key less entry, if you wait to the contracts are signed, and your picking up the Vehicle, and that is when the salesman tells you, "Oh, by the way, the vesicle has no key less entry. You will need to purchase them". If that is not an unethical salesman and business organization I do not know what is.
My wife and I could have avoided all this by buying a new vehicle, but the salesman was not up front about any of these negative features. We could have spent another $500-$1000 to have a mechanic look at the vehicle, but that is the reason we went to the dealer. We knew we would be paying a little more for the vehicle, but it would be in perfect condition, which was not the case here.

It sounds to me you are an employee of Weston Volvo is this correct?

My problems are real and I have to take care of them. I analyze the repair and cost and evaluate it with a few other mechanic in the area. It is what it is. We like the Vehicle and we will make the necessary repairs. But one thing is certain we will never buy a new or used vehicle from Weston Volvo.

Best of luck

Avoidable problems

AUTHOR: coast - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, July 03, 2011

Paying $4500 for radiator service was foolish. Complainig about the price after purchase is just plain funny. You knew about the keyless entry at the time of purchase. To avoid most of these problems in the future, consider paying a mechanic to check out the car before purchase. Better luck next time.
