Westwood College Online deceived, misrepresented, and grossly overcharged Sallie Mae Loans in my name. I attended Westwood College Online from the time of Fall 2005 to late spring 2007. During this period, I maintained a high GPA. As I began to find out that my degree would not be taken seriously in the career path I had chosen, and the credits were not transferable to any other school, I withdrew from the school and began attempting to have the money for my Sallie Mae loans returned to them, so that I could continue my schooling elsewhere.

In that period, Westwood has had its accreditation stripped in every state it operates in, and has come under investigation by the Department of Education in Colorado, Congressional committees, and the US Attorney General for these practices. In short, all I seek is Sallie Mae Loans in my name paid back in full, so that I may continue my schooling.

I am considering settling the matter legally, and have already sent communications to Senator Tom Harkin, President Obama, CBS News, and other assorted senators, news agencies, and other reporting agencies. I have discussed the matter with Westwood, in particular Mitch Thomas and Lyn Haruf, who was responsible for refunds at the time we discussed the matter. My only desire is to continue my schooling, so if Westwood would be agreeable to refunding Sallie Mae I would not need to seek further action.

Good Luck With That

Jeanski is correct. You are stuck and it isn't going to happen. Face it, you were scammed just like the rest of us. Now you have to pay for it. Probably for the next 15 years or so. Hard lesson to learn isnt' it?

Like you, I discovered way to late that this "college" (brand name they gave themselves) were just scamming and working the system to get as many students to apply as they could, false hopes, lies and deceit to get your money and the government will not do anything about it. I'll be 72 years old before I see any light at the end of the tunnel so count yourself lucky.

Just a FYI, Sallie Mae is in deep with these thieves as well as is just as crooked as Westwood. If you default, they will scatter your loans to as many Collection Agencies as they can so you will not be paying outrageous loans to just one but MANY creditors...

Isn't going to happen

I hate to break it to you, but YOU are responsible for your loans.  You attended for what appears to be two academic years, and four years later you want THEM to repay the loans???

You signed for the loans, and you alone are responsible for them.  Westwood may have deceived or misled you, but unless you can prove fraud (which you can't) the loans were disbursed and you're stuck.

Unfortunately, there's no "lemon law" when it comes to higher education.
