You must be new to WOL! I left that place in April of 2007 after a year and a half at the main Westminster location.

Yes, the Parent Plus loan isn't a Westwood thing, it's a Federal government thing, so that's where our original poster is wrong, but he may as well be fully correct on everything else.

I have never worked for a company where I was so uncomfortable in what I did for a living. I was REQUIRED to "do what it took" to get students to sign up. I had to mislead them, I had to sugarcoat everything and I had to make them believe that even if they're on a fixed income, they can afford this college. Oh, that's a laugh.

A few months after I started, I deeply questioned what I was selling. I only stayed because it was a paycheck and pretended I really cared.

Financial aid was a huge joke and felt so bad for each and every student that I did sign up. Most students I signed up never started and as I look back on it they are better off that they did not.

The school IS accredited, but only Nationally accredited. That's nothing! Regional accreditation is the way to go and yes they are in that process, but still a few years away from earning it and that's if they even earn it.

I've also taken courses with WOL (hey, you can't beat free employee tuition) and noticed each online course is so watered down it may as well be a river. After realizing what I could get away with, I slacked off so much in those classes, even intentionally not completing assignments, but still mysteriously passed with flying colors. Heck, I even made the Dean's list! But I know for a fact I didn't earn it. Same went for the course I took at the Denver North Campus. It was a math class and while I barely did any work, and didn't understand what was going on, I still easily passed.

Face it. Westwood is and always will be a joke until they can get their act together especially on the financial aid part and the watering down of courses. Basically all you get is a $70,000 overpriced and useless degree with easy As and Bs all the way through. Not to mention the severe debt you face afterwards.

I work in admissions here for the online division of Westwood College. First off, every company has people who are not honest and are not truthful. Here at Westwood we are held to the highest of honesty and integrity. The loans you speak of are Sallie Mae (largest education lender in the nation) and Federal Stafford Loans. Almost all schools use both (if they are accredited) Westwood is accredited. We do not apply for anymore than those 2 loans, both are very low interest rates. If you had stuck around long enough to apply for Federal Pell grants you also would be eligible for close to $15,000 dollars of FREE money (does not need to be repaid to the government). That would lower the $75,000 to $60,000.

Our programs are all inclusive of EVERYTHING, tuition, books, tool kits, software. We have no hidden fees like most other colleges. If you call up your local university and add up the total cost of school you will be surprised to see that it is the same if not more. Students can also apply for scholarships like any other college and recieve even more free money (does not need to be repaid). Westwood College is not a RIP OFF! We do need to rush students to get things done for financial aid because we have terms starting every month, if we enroll you 2 weeks before a start date we really need to speed things up to get you fully funded to attend school, it is not to hustle or scam you! I work with many, many people who are good hearted and truly want to help you. As with every company there are bad seeds and I do appologize for them.
