 Im a truckdriver, i stoped at a hotel for the night didnt think getting something to eat would be a problem with 2 24hour resteraunts next to my hotel. first i go to ihop walk in the employees are hitting a crack pipe see me and tell me they are closed. Then i walk to whataburger, the inside is closed there hasnt been anyone at the drive thru i walk up to the window and ask for a number 5 and they tell me i cant get nothing to eat because im not in a car. Some lady told me they do that because of liability. I asked her what insurance company she worked for to make sure i never go through them. Stupid people irritate me, I dont know anyone driving a 100mph through a drive thru to hit a pedestrian and if they did they probally shouldnt be driving anyways. Now i know why people in their 40s are working fast food for minimum wage and no retirement plans and i also know ill never eat at a whataburger or ihop again. Millions of people looking for jobs and they only hire crackheads & morons.

Standard Procedure

As a truck driver I"m surprised you have not encountered this more. This is standard procedure at ever single fast food chain where I live. They all have signs up stating that they do not serve walk up customers in the drive thru. They started doing this when there was a rash of burglaries from walk up customers. They won't wait on you becuase of the liability to themselves. Too many people have been hurt or robbed by people walking up to a drive thru. The stores do not want the employees to risk themselves.

Its not being rude and its not a ripoff.

Now, you are upset becuase of whataburger, but the IHOP employees smoking a crack pipe didn't seem to bother you?
