We tried to go the correct route. Whirlpool will just not back up thier product. We purchased a double drawer Whirlpool (KitchenAid) dishwasher about a year and ahalf ago. It Just does not clean the dishes.
We have had 4 service calls on it. The first the tech replaced the pump, this did not improve the machines ability to clean the dishes. On the second call it was suggested that the water was not hot enough, we went to the expense of putting an instant hot water heater adjacent to the dishwasher (no more hot water problems). On the third visit, the system and electronics were checked, nothing was replaced. However the tech found what appeared to be a water leak, due to the inabilty to load a normal size dinner plate. On the fourth again nothing was replaced, we were told by this tech, that the pump was undersized for the task and was designed that way. as for the water leak, we were told to "lean" the plates, the very issue that does not get them clean in the first place!?
Our dinner plates are standard size. The only way these plates can be loaded are at an odd angle, in order to close the top drawer. At this angle the water being sprayed from the bottom of the drawer cannot properly hit the plates. However the dishwasher's inability the even extends to smaller items (cups and smaller plates). They just do not get clean.
We have tried different detergents and rinse solutions. We have to prewash by hand, all of our dishes in order for anything to get clean. If there are any particles of food on the dishes, they do not get cleaned. All we would like is for Whirlpool to replace the dishwasher with a single door dishwasher. Hopefully thier single door dishwasher work better then the double drawer models. If they do even replace it. If not we will have to go to the exspense of replacing it. I can tell you if this happens it will not be a Whirlpool product.
