I should have trusted my gut.  I read the reports posted by other people about this company and I thought that they were just naive to how moving companies work, well I was wrong. These people are exactly as other people have posted. They dont care if they have happy customers, repeat customers or referred customers...all they are after is WAY more than they originally quote.

I was moving across the city into a suburb.  Had all of my stuff packed and ready to go. The movers had nothing to do but put the boxes and a few pieces of furniture on the truck, drive it across town and then unload it.  Simple right? All of the fragile stuff was already at the new place, this should have been a no brainer.

These guys took forever.  I swear they each took 3-5 bathroom breaks and never once considered working as a team. The older guy stood in the truck like an imperial guard as I carted the boxes, one after another myself.  All this while the other did as little as possiple. Sure he moved a few boxes, but only if i was present. I swear the guys never once broke a sweat.

NEVER AGAIN!

Oh and for the couple who left the other post, I feel for you.  I too talked to Katie and she gave me the same 3 hour quote while not bothering to mension the driving fee they so casually tack on after dragging their feet for 2 of the 3 hours...making it a total of 4 hours.  You would think after moving oh thousands of houses, they would know how long it takes to load x number of boxes, drive whatever distance and unload.  YOU WOULD THINK.

Or better yet, you would think that they would be in a practice of saying that they have a two hour minimum moving fee which includes commute from location A to location B with a One hour driving fee attached to cover the drivers return trip. You would think! At least if they said it like that, their customers would have a heads up to how they charge and plan accordingly.

Overall, my grade for White Star Movers is C-

They barely passed.  The Customer support, i.e. Katie, could have worded the WSM's billing process a bit clearer.  I am sure she was just reading a script or using estimates  written up by the owner and can't be blamed for the organizations flaws...but still clear and concise wording of how their process works makes for happy customers.  As for the movers...well shaky at best.  Although they were nice guys and the type I could see having a laugh with at the bar, I wasn't paying to have a beer with them and just wanted them to be hard workers.

Happy moving
