I AM DISGUSTED WITH HOW THEY DO BUSINESS. THEY SOLD MY PARENTS A BEARDED DRAGON AROUND CHRISTMAS. I NEVER WENT THERE TO BUY ANY INSECTS FOR HIM UNTIL I WAS TOLD IT WAS CHEAPER THERE THEN (((competitor's name redacted))). WHEN I HAD BEEN GOING TO (((redacted))) THEY WERE REALLY INFORMATIVE, THEY HELPED ME WITH EVERYTHING.

WELL THEN I STARTED BUYING INSECTS AT WILDSIDE. THEY NEVER WERE THAT MUCH HELP, AND I WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD START BUYING WORMS FOR HIM CUZ THEY ARE MORE NUTRITOUS. SO I STARTED BUYING WHAT THEY CALL LG. MEALWORMS. WELL LAST WEEK I STARTED NOTICING HIS BEHAVIOR HAD CHANGED.

I PET HIM AND THERE WAS A PART ON HIS BACK THAT WHEN I TOUCHED IT SEEMED LIKE IT HURT HIM, SO I TOLD MY MOM THAT WE NEEDED TO GET HIM INTO THE VET. WELL WE COULDN'T FOR LIKE 3 DAYS, THERE WAS NO OPEN TIMES. SO I GET HOME FROM SCHOOL LATER THAT DAY AND I FIND HIM DEAD. I WAS ABSOLUTELY DEVISTATED.

SO MY PARENTS ENDED UP BUYING ME 2 BABIES FROM (((redacted))) B/C THE WILDSIDE WAS WAY OVER PRICED. THEY GOT 2 FOR THE PRICE OF 1. SO ME AND MY MOM WENT TO (((redacted))) TO GET CRICKETS AND I OPENED A CONTAINER OF SUPERWORMS. THAT IS WHEN I REALIZED WHAT I WAS REALLY FEEDING HIM. I ASKED THE GIRL HELPING US IF YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO CUT THE HEADS OFF OF THE SUPERWORMS AND SHE REPLIED YES B/C THEY CAN BITE THE ANIMAL OR CHEW THREW THE STOMACH OF THE ANIMAL.

I ABOUT LOST IT. SO ALL ALONG THE WILD SIDE WAS SELLING ME WORMS THAT I SHOULD OF BEEN CUTTING OF THE HEADS OF BEFORE I GAVE THEM TO MY BEARDED DRAGON. NOT ONCE DID THEY TELL ME THIS. NOT ONCE DID THEY WARN ME, THAT THEY COULD KILL MY BEARDED DRAGON. SO NOW ALL I'M LEFT WITH IS A DEAD BEARDED DRAGON AND MY PARENTS ARE OUT A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS.

SO I JUST WANT TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT THEY ARE A RIP OFF AND THAT YOU SHOULDN'T TRUST THEM WITH ANYTHING. I'VE LEARNED A LESSON THE HARD WAY AND I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT I WILL NOT LET WHAT HAPPENED TO MY OTHER BEARDED DRAGON HAPPEN TO MY 2 LITTLE BABIES, BECAUSE I WILL NEVER EVER SHOP THERE AGAIN. IT IS A DIGUSTING WAY OF DOING BUSINESS.

I am a new and very happy customer of The Wild Side Pet Store

AUTHOR: nikkig - ()

POSTED: Saturday, September 14, 2013

I adopted a bearded dragon that was previosly injured and both took him to the vet for treatment and started getting  his food and supplies at the Wild Side Pet Store.  I did my research on bearded dragons as well as getting advice from the stores employees.  They have always been available to give me any information i needed.  I knew the worms bit and they advised me to be careful when feeding them to  him so I didn't get bitten. When they were out of the worms I needed they were very helpful with making sure I knew what to give him to make sure he had a balanced diet.   They always remembered me and my draagon when I came into the store, and asked me how he was doing.  As far as the puppies and other animals in the store, I have never seen them mistreated, in fact, they cared for the animals as if they were thier own personal pets.  I would recommend the store to everyone, especially for reptile pets.  Besides our reptile vet, the Wild Side Pet Store is my number one source of information!!

Perhaps instead of complaining about someone not holding your hand through the process of being a beardie owner, you should have done research on your own. They are not ripping you off of theyre selling you what you asked for. Of course every pet owner has their own preference, in case you asked what you should feed your beardie and they suggested that, be aware that they probably feed their beardies the meal worms and do not have problems with it. Had you done research on your own you would have known the dangers and known better. And you cant base a complaint off of an assumption. You are assuming that it was the mealworms that killed your beardie. There could have been about a million things wrong with it, including a sickness he may have had prior to purchasing him.

I have been a loyal Wildside Pets customer for about five years.  I am offended by the puppymill comment and it has nothing to do with your problem with the customer service.  You bought worms not a dog.  I have seen first hand the breeders they use.  I bought my beautiful Beagle from them some years ago.  My beagle Cooper is the cutest, most well behaved dog I have ever owned.  He is healthy, smart and was well taken care of.   I loved him so much I went back to them to see if I could find him a friend.  I was interested in getting another beagle from the same parents and asked the employee if they could help me do that and get me in contact with the breeder that Cooper came from.  They were so helpful and bent over backwards to help me find his parents for another dog.  I could even go see where he came from and I can assure you it is not a puppymill.  Learn your facts before you start making wild allegations.  The Wildside is one of the only pet stores I know that really cares about animals and always has the most up to date information about all animals.  They help me any time I need it.

To the former manager, did you take part in the verbal abuse towards the employees that the owner seems to do so much? Many times I've been in the store and witnessed this. This is absolutely unprofessional. One can see how well you treat your animals if you treat your workers like this.

Former manager- allegations not true

AUTHOR: Britny - (U.S.A.)

The Wildiside pets in puyallup,wa is a hard working exotic petstore with a dedicated team. i worked there for about 3 years, 1 of which i was a manager.

As far as cutting the heads off of worms- look at good old mother nature. when taking an animal home, it is our job to do what we can to simulate the environment and diet for the animal we have misplaced and taken into our homes. i promise you that the wild does not cut off heads of bugs for the bearded dragons to eat. crickets can actually be much more harmful in large amounts and have been known to eat and kill what they were intended to feed. it is very possible taht any bite came from a cricket rather than the mealworm.

As far as the puppy comment- then entire time i worked there, from april 04 to october 07 we stayed using one USDA licensed pet breeder who has top of the line facilities. the breeder chooses to be USDA licensed and is subject to random, thorough inspections of the puppies, mothers, and facilities. the breeder is one of the only USDA licensed breeders in Washington state and would not be able to keep that license without having above average conditions for the dogs. I personally know that breeder and see the care and love given to each puppy.

those puppies are not just numbers or profits, they are living, breathing, feeling animals that we get to take care of. I trusted the breeder enough to buy my french bulldog through the store. if not bred right bulldogs can be very health problem prone, so it is vital you choose a reputable breeder.

i do sympathize with the loss of your pet and hope your new babies are doing well.

Did you leave the superworms in the tank with your Bearded? If so then you shouldn't have.

I've been feeding worms to my Bearded Dragon since I got him in 2003 and I have never had that problem nor have I ever cut the heads off of any of the worms I feed. Its simply not necessary as long as you only feed what the Bearded will eat in a five to ten minute period.

To me this doesn't sound like a rip-off, but more like an uneducated pet owner who should have done more research about the animal they are buying.
