Wilens and Baker PC Wilens Baker lawyer rip-off New York City, New York

Wilens and Baker were referred to us from some people my husband knew.  We went to see them to have them help us with my husbands papers.  My husband came to this country and overstayed his Visa.  We were trying to file the I-130 and help my husband stay here with me.  

We went there and they were not really mean but they were kind of standoffish.  I just wanted to help my husband so we met them filled out the papers and gave them the $500 down.  We thought that they could help us so we did everything that they asked.  

I asked them if it mattered if I was married before this twice and I wanted them to look over all of my paperwork to see if it was OK.  The told me everything was fine and that we had to pay 100 per month and the total fees would be $3,250 plus filing fees.  We ended up paying it off early because we thought that would help us.  

The lawyers were supposed to help us get my husband papers to stay here with me.  It ended up that we had to move because of job and family.  We moved to Florida but still keep in touch with them and they said it would be fine.  We did not hear from the for a while and then they called and told me that there was a problem with my divorces and I had to re-divorce my two exhusbands and re marry my husband that I have now.    I was very upset because I had to pay over $3000 to do this or I would have went to jail because I was still married to all three husbands and did not know it.  This was only one of the mistakes they made.

The next mistake was made when I gave them my birth certificate from which I was born in New York they told me it was fine.  The next thing I know is I was contacted by immigration and they needed a long version of my birth certificate or could not continue with our case.  These lawyers work in New York State and should have know what I needed.  Then I faxed and emailed them paper work to go with my birth certificate with confirmation.  Then a month later got another letter from immigration because they never received my paper work.  When I contacted  Wilens and Baker they told me to come in.  I was living in Florida and they wanted me to come there.  I finally talked to someone on the phone when I was told we had to file another I-130 and pay again.  I told them they made the mistake and that I should not have to pay.  

We had to go to New York three or four times which is time off work and money.  We keep getting email that were not nice about this or that from Wilens and Bakers workers and from Baker himself.  We keep being told to come in.  When we did go there they were nasty and did not really want help us.  We had finally decided after eight years that we would tell them we wanted all of the money back and would go to another attorney.  They refused to give back our money but we still needed help so we went to a new attorney and within one year my husband had his green card, social security number and drivers license.  We had try to go other avenues to get our money back but keep being told to do more paper work or to hire a personal attorney which would cost more than it would be worth.

I just wanted to warn everyone that Wilens and Baker are no good, they steal your money and have nasty attitudes.  Please do not be fooled by them they need to have their license removed and be closed down.  I think it is awful to take advantage of others and to treat them like they are stupid.  People are people not something to play with and take their money.
