First, the Operating Partner of this salon, Kailey Mullin, actually goes by an alias, Willow Davines. Over time I've learned this salon owner is unable to tell the truth and is an unfair employer.  I write this review to warn both potential clients as well as potential employees/stylists and investors to save them from experiencing the manipulation of this woman.

1) She is not discreet.  She has told clients about her affairs with married men. I'd be leery to send my husband to this salon if you were married. She also has shared confidential information about people's lives with other clients or would talk ill of clients to each other.  Most clients trust their hair stylist and sometimes tell them personal information. If you plan to see her I'd caution you in sharing anything personal that you don't want anyone else in the Scottsdale area to know about.

2) She can be emotionally unstable. She can be very friendly, but I've also witnessed her become very angry, very quickly.  I'd caution both clients and employees to not disagree with her too strongly to avoid confrontation.

3) She is not fair to her employees:

  • She has been known to not pay her employees for countless hours spent cleaning, and supporting her salon.  She spends very little to no money on marketing and on some days a stylist can sit in the salon with no clients, and since she does not pay a minimum hourly wage, that stylist will make $0 for the day.  If you are planning on working for her I'd ask her to provide sales history to verify the real volume of clients coming into the salon before you decide to work for her, especially if you are depending on walk-ins, vs. your own clientele.

  • At the beginning of working with her she seems like a very nice person, but usually within weeks she will begin to nitpick at her employees performance and even "write them up" for untrue or exaggerated situations. Recently 99% of her staff resigned within days due to the way she treated them.

  • She threatened to write up an employee for missing work, eventhough the employee had missed due to caring for her mother that was suffering from terminal cancer. Kailey had no sympathy for her.

  • She shortpays her employees. When employees have questioned this she has locked them out of the point of sale so they cannot confirm their sales.

  • She has had almost 100% churn since she has opened her salon.
