We are writing to report our disappointment with our purchase of a wind blue light wind wind turbine. I purchased this unit for occasional use at a cabin for a rural property with minimal power needs. I was impressed by what seemed to be an honest straitforward sales approach on the site. Bottom line is this thing does not meet our need for even minimal power use and we had to buy solar panels.

We have a few complaints about the unit. One being the site explains the unit has no cogging which I understood to mean to be easy to turn or smooth running. This alternator would not hardly budge out of the box. Wind Blue's explanation was that it was that it was because of the strong magnets and that a break in period of 2 weeks would be needed. We have the one that has the 2 blades and it would not turn for over a month. After it did somewhat "break in" it never started up in the low winds as described on the site. Further based on my experience I believe that the reviews posted on the site to be completely bogus because they all talk about how great this turbine is.  We bought a weather station and this alternator does not even spin until over 12 mph wind which it was advertised to do well below.  Hard to see how it could put out usable power at 6 mph. My main complaint is the 400 watts that are shown on the chart do not happen even in strong storms. The most I have seen is a little over 150 watts out of this turbine. Further this only occurs in winds 20 mph and over. Disappointed would be an understament based on the fact we paid around $500 for this. The more I dug on forums and such the more I found this to be rather typical.
