In the past month I discovered that Windstream who was servicing my internet service plan was not providing the speed of internet service that I have been paying for.

I have been a Windsream customer for approximately 8 months. To receive speeds of 3 mbps.

I used a SIW Speedtest to discover that I was paying nearly 50.00 per month for download speeds of 2.48 and upload speeds of under .50

I did not report the problem until today Feb.24th, 2012, at which time I cancelled my internet service.

I spoke with a Windstream representative at 1800-347-1991 Ext.3622, she passed my call on to Ext.2597 to complete cancellation of my internet service.

the representative at Ext. 2597 asked why I was cancelling my service...I proceeded to tell her that I was paying nearly 50.00 per month for 3 mbps internet speed and after performing a speed test learned that my Windstream provider had failed to service me with the speed in which I paid for...the representative told me she was sorry and added that Windstream is aware that they underprojected the volume of high speed internet users that cause slow speeds to other customers in particular areas... and that they are working on getting new equipment to handle these issues...

I told the representative that I am not in a rural or remote area...I am located just 5 miles outside a major city Lexington, KY.

Then she proceeded to tell me that she will be sending me a statement for the last month of service of 47.?? ...I asked her if she would waive these charges based on the facts that I stated...she said she could not!!!! 

I believe...Consumers have Rights and I should at very least have the right to express and pass on to my fellow consumers...a ***buyer beware*** Warning!!!

I chose Insight to replace Windstream and performed the same SIW speed test on their service and learned that Insight is an Honest Internet Service Provider...that provides the speed  I pay for.
