I have no idea what these people think they're doing! There are two portions to their inhumane crimes: chronic and sporadic.

The chronic portion is the constant embezzlement in the form of under-reporting my hours. For the past three weeks, I have worked weekly totals of 24 hours. My past two paycheck stubs, however, say I have worked a mere 18 per week.

At my gross hourly rate of $7.21, that means that over the past two weeks, they have stolen almost $87 from a combination of myself and the federal government. If this continues at the same rate until the planned end of my employment, they will have stolen upwards of $731 from my pay alone (much of which belongs to the government).

Assuming the same thing has happened to everyone else in the front end of my location, I would estimate that $10,965 from that one department (a fair amount of it tax money), and so on until each person in each department in each store in each region is accounted for (millions, if not billions, of dollars, including hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal taxes).

The sporadic part is even worse. On Tuesday, February 10, 2009, a short-lived corporate policy went into effect. According to an insider, the policy was that any store with greater hours than the mathematical mean (average) must cut their hours until at or below the mean. Here's the kicker: this was fixed by removing the only other person in my position (I am a courtesy clerk) for the day, which happened to be incredibly busy.

Fortunately for us all, the policy is no longer in effect, but to quote Jon Bon Jovi, "no one can save me, the damage is done." At the end of my shift, I twitched all the way to my car (I couldn't pinpoint when it started, so workers comp would have been a bust). I have been walking with a slight bob in my spine ever since. I truly hope this doesn't prove to be a serious problem.

Some more facts to put this into perspective: every cashier on shift at the time (like I said, I was the only courtesy clerk) agreed that that day was hell; one cashier expressed sincere concern for my well-being (her exact words: "I don't know how they can expect you to do this all by yourself."); the shift supervisor and another cashier threatened to quit due to the all but impossible workload; the department manager was visibly enraged at this hours cut; the list most certainly goes on...

I know injustice when I see it, and even more when I experience it. As an Eagle Scout, I have sworn an oath that I will not let something like this stand. Anything and everything that you can do to stop this madness, I welcome with open arms.

To all you attorneys out there, I encourage you to form a class action lawsuit against these psychopaths. To all who have suffered as I have, let your voice be heard!

"I reaffirm my allegiance to the three promises of the Scout Oath. I thoughtfully recognize and take upon myself the responsibilities of the rank of Eagle Scout. On my honor, I will do my best to make my training an example, to make my rank and my influence count strongly for better Scouting and for better citizenship in my Troop, in my community and in my contacts with other people. To this I pledge my sacred honor."

Have you called DOL

AUTHOR: Steven - (U.S.A.)

All it takes is a phone call and some documentation for the state to get you your money for nothing. Why hire an attorney?? Get and retain copies of your time card and compare it to your check. If there are any differences start by calling HR (or payroll for an accounting). If no satisfactory explanation just call DOL (they have an 800 number in the book).
