Jim Wooten was hired to work on 2 vehicles owned by my son.  One vehicle he had us tow to his house, where he said he would work on it.  He failed to provide any written estimates.

My son paid him for parts for the first vehicle, and for the one that was towed to his house, he was paid $500 cash for an engine rebuild.

During the 4 1/2 months he had the vehicle, he would tell us he was working on it, but he was busy.  At one point, he told us the engine had been rebuilt, was running great, but there was a problem with the transmission.  This transmission had been rebuilt about 2 years prior.  He told us the shop who replaced the tranny had used one that didn't fit, and that the guy had drilled holes in the flex plate.

After a while, he stopped answering his phone.  Calls were not returned.  Then when we would call his son, Zack Wooten, who also works the business, he'd either not answer, not return calls, or if he accidentally answered, he'd simply hang up.

We received a notice in late July, 2011, that the vehicle that was supposed to be at his house had been towed, and that it would be auctioned off on August 15, 2011.  Both my son and I called, and again, no answer, hung up on, etc.  The one call back my son received (they refused to call me) was to inform him that they were going to wait for the auction to "buy it back, cuz it's cheaper".  But they didn't receive any notices and had no idea when it would be auctioned off.  And, even if they did buy it back at auction, it shouldn't have to have happened, AND we would still be responsible for the balance of the impound fees.

When we paid to get the car out of impound, we also had to have a new key made, which required a new ignition switch.  The car was full of crap, clothing, papers, ZigZags, beer bottles, trash, etc.  There was a beer can in the engine compartment.

We had it towed to a reputable shop.  They took one look at it and said that they hadn't even opened the engine.  All they had done was removed the radiator and left it in the bed of the truck.

They took $1,300 from my son, and have done nothing on either car.  They were responsible for one, and allowed it to be towed, costing us close to $1,500, not to mention the tickets the car had gotten that were simply tossed into the front of the truck.

They lied to us, they knew they weren't working on the car when they told us they were and had.  They are guilty of conversion of the car, since they allowed someone else to take it without our consent.  They defrauded us out of about $1,300, as well as costing us another $1,500.

They also use the name "OC Mobile Mechanic".  That is a name that has been used by over 20 years for a reputable mobile mechanic in Orange County.  They get people to hire them based on Nick's reputation, then rip them off.

wow - fibs in the present - means fibs in future.

"UNTIL YOU BECOME A MECHANIC and quit your JOB AS A MIDDLE  SCHOOL TEACHER DO NOT TRY TOO STOP A MECHANIC IN THE MIDDLE OF A JOB WITH THE PARTS NOT EVEN INSTALLED YET.

wow - some ones pants are on fire and and woooo(d)en mechanics puppets noses are growing.

your "M-O" is the same - get honest people to pay for parts up front - leave job to get parts - stall-lie about hunting down parts . the big lie was being sick in the hospital when "sick" means arrested and hospital means jail. your arrest report is not difficult to look up. dates, times, evidence and events are all being lined up .

i am working in concert with ocsd and the fraud division in building a case(s)- i am in  process of getting phone records and transcripts. fraud investigators have been talking to witness' and already have  photos/video and notarized testimony(s) on every aspect of the case. civil court is just the beginning .

i paid 300$ up front for brakes - no brake parts - no brake job - he lied to me on the phone telling me they were done- one phone transcript notes that job was completed and one transcript states i was given a "deal"
yet - my deal was no work done - no parts - and parts he removed not returned.  he then called me and needed more money to complete other work. lied about completing other work so yes i called the cops.

just when you think it couldn't get worse it does
before i could uncover his lies
i paid another 400$ for a tune up with parts and labor included -being lied too about brakes being done- no parts purchased- plugs, wires, cap, rotor and left car un- drivable by removing steering column when i told him not to worry about leaking gear box just finish the work i asked for .

all expenses that were paid in advance i will go to court to recoup.
all lost income due to car being inopperable i will go to court to recoup.
all expenses to repair damage done to car i will go to court to recoup. spray painting brakes and hard ware with black paint did some damage. stuffing gear box with improper grease did some damage.
all parts that were removed and not returned to me i am slowly hunting down and will go to court to recoup .
i am keeping receipts of those expenses along with my time ,phone calls and postage. one nut removed and not returned i found in a Canadian salvage yard. bought it had it shipped and that was one expensive nut.
the really expensive parts that were removed and not returned  went to the steering gearbox. looks like a whole new core is needed to replace missing parts ( any thing that costs me money today i will be looking to recoup from the zach wooten  his father and other employees . the father lied to me several times  as phone transcripts will prove . stating son was sick/hospital/waiting for parts ect.  aiding someone to commit fraud is also fraud. one of his employees when i called zach answered the phone and stated " you have the wrong number", "i don't know what to tell you", and closed by saying "good luck"- which makes him a part of the fraud as well - craig you will not be left out. 1 minute later zach calls me back from the same number as phone transcripts will prove.

in closing i am the customer that called the cops to talk to them about your mobile mechanic business and i am still talking to them .

yes i am a history teacher and one of the quotes in my classroom is
"evil wins when good people fail to fight it" i am a man of my word and i will be heard.

had the pleasure of meeting jim wooten and sidekick dan. needed service on my boat engines a simple half day job. called off an add in craigslist liked there price. should of realized as soon as we agreed to do work and was asked to pay for parts upfront i was dealing with trouble. they wanted that money same day. i said no i will give you money for parts the day we do the work. we agreed. they are a mobile service and the storage facility my boat is in does not allow work. so we made arraingements to pull the boat to a friends shop in laguna niguel.

arrived a little early but jim and dan were there to meet me. said alley was blocked so drop the boat here we will move it later to work on it. filled out an invoice and offered jim 300.00 for parts he wanted 400.00. agreed to pick boat up after 3:pm. just never felt right. talked to jim at 3:00 said they were chasing down some housing that was corroded in the lower unit. said probably not finished till after 5:00. i headed down to check out boat. to my suprise the boat was still parked right were i dropped it. the engines had not been touched, the lower unit was never removed on either engine. so chasing corroded part was a bold face lie. ran home to get my truck to come pick up boat and take back to storage.

on the way back got a call from jim telling me they were still chasing parts, need to get a couple of more corroded brackets picked up and said he was going to have a buddy put the boat behind his business and finish in the morning. i asked if he had both lower units removed and he said yes and its a good thing we were servicing them a few more hours they could have failed. well arrived back at boat 10 minutes after that call to find boat in same place all intact never touched. its 5 pm i hook it up tow it back to storage. unhook a little after 6 pm called jim and asked if the boat was safely secured for the night. yes it is we will get started on it in the morning.

well i was waiting for a phone call back to ask me if i had the boat but never came.  after reading all the negative things about jim and zach i realized i was'nt the first victim. same scenario, get money upfront, stall or never complete work, so i called around 9 pm talked to dan told him i picked up the boat. they never knew it was gone. i believe they were going to leave it in the street were there is no parking 12 am to 4 am. working on getting my parts or money back.

Warning, Jim and Zach wootens are crooks. Has nothing to do with cheap customers. They will quote or estimate a repair job for cheap then they will ask for more money. Hey Jim and Zach, why don't you return the money and parts that belong to my boat. Why won't you answer my calls? Do not trust this scumbags. Karma will do them justice.

mechanic ripped me off too

AUTHOR: niner - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, February 03, 2013

mechanic mentioned in complaint has also taken advantage of me . his actions could have potentially injured my family by stating he did work he was paid for that was never done. tried to mask work with bearing grease and spray paint so it appeared to have been done and led me to believe my car was repaired . when in fact none of the work or parts i paid for was done at all.

THE WHOOTEN'S ARE CROOKS

AUTHOR: rj - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, January 21, 2012

I am reading the responses of the Whooten's and it's really hilarious.   Hey Zack, both you and your father are the worst form of grifters we have ever seen.  You take on jobs, alot of them in Dana Point harbor-DOES THAT RING A BELL?, and you thieves take upfront money, dont do any work, destroy the boats you work on, move into these boats and turn them into cesspools.  The sheriff's know you two guys very well and are currently actively looking for both of you.  There is also a detective from the orange county fraud division looking for you and there is an open investigation.  So don't even attempt to make comments like that, namely regarding your reputation and happy clients.  The truth is that you both are criminals and your happy clients are fictitious.  I did some checking at the courthouse and the both of you have quite a few unhappy clients that have sued your sorry rearends for fraud.  In fact, in one instance, the laguna hills police department had to assist in recovering a consumers boat that you guys had tried to rip off.  You guys are really a piece of work.  And if you two try to rebut this,  I promise you I will post more of your shenanigans on this site.  I have done a lot of homework on your backgrounds and there is alot more to talk about.  And if I happen to see you two anywhere near Dana Point,  I will get the sheriff's to pick you up faster than you can spit.  And don't even try to badmouth anybody's comments regarding your business practices.   Jim and Zack-  UNFORTUNATELY FOR YOU, THESE TICKED OFF PEOPLE ARE ALL TELLING THE TRUTH AND YOU ARE NOT.  SO STOP THE LYING!!

WHEN CUSTOMERS WANT WORK DONE FOR NEXT TO FREE!!!

AUTHOR: oc mobile mechanics - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 14, 2011

i will say it one more time this lady is crazy they wanted a motor rebuild for next to free i have to be paid for my time, labor, parts and storage of the one car for 6 months!!!she was also supposed to help my dad with some lawyer work and she did nothing at all...i did a certain amount of work on both cars but i did not finish the cars because i have finished cars in the past for people and when it comes time to pay they just don't have it!!!she says i ripped her off and she tells everyone watch out...well i have 30 customers from this past month and they are all happy with there cars running and i could use them for references...AND THEY ALL GOT THE PARTS THAT WERE NO GOOD AND SAW ME PUTTING ON THE NEW PARTS!!!

SHE IS THE ONE WHO IS A FRAUD!!!AND WE ONLY WORK ON CARS BUSINESS TO BUSINESS THAT'S WHY THE BAR HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS OR ANY OTHER COMPANY TRUCKS CARS OR FORKLIFTS I WORK ON AND I WORK ON BOATS IN THE SUMMER!!!Crazy lady wants her cars fixed for free??????would you fix her cars for next to nothing????

AND I NOTIFIED THE LADY AND HER SON TO PICK THERE CAR UP IF THEY COULD NOT COME TOGETHER WITH MORE MONEY AND THEY INSTEAD TRY TO THREATEN ME AND MY FATHER SO I CALLED A COUPLE MORE TIMES AND LEFT A MESSAGE WITH THEM TO PICK THERE CAR UP OR IT WOULD BE TOWED....AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED!!!!!

I HAVE GREAT REFERENCES FROM 20 OTHER CUSTOMERS IF ANYONE DOUBTS MY REBUTTAL THE HONEST TRUTH IS YOU GET WHAT U PAY FOR...IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY FOR THE PARTS AND OUR LABOR THEN YOUR CAR WILL BE FIXED FOR SURE....BUT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY THE WORST THING YOU COULD DO IS TELL ME THAT YOU WILL HAVE THE MONEY LATER AND THEN BEG ME TO FIX IT FIRST AND ONCE IT IS RUNNING YOU WILL PAY ME  THE PROBLEM IS NO ONE EVER HAS THE MONEY THEY ALWAYS WANT THE CAR BACK FIRST WITH OUT PAYING. YOU CAN'T GET A CHEESEBURGER AND THEN PAY FOR IT THE NEXT DAY SO DON'T ASK FOR THE CAR TO BE FIXED WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE THE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AUTHOR: Netty - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 10, 2011

In response to Wooten's rebuttal, they stopped returning calls, so we never said we were out of money, nor did they ever ask for any more money.  The last sums requested were paid, that being $500 for the engine rebuild.  As for the $5,000 they NOW say we owe, neither my son nor myself have seen any estimate, or bill, or any other piece of paper that indicates the work to be performed.  Which, I believe, is a requirement of all automotive mechanics.

After filing my complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repairs, I discovered that neither Jim, Zack or Wooten's OC Mobile Mechanic are registered with the Bureau of Automotive Repairs.  Yet another good reason to research any automotive company before you give them your car.
