I have worked in trucking for 25 years. I went to work for Wright Transportation in their Flatbed Division in 2006 (this Division no longer exists). When I signed on with them I was promised a sign on bonus of $1000 after being with the company for 90 days and also promised DOT inspection bonuses of $25 if my logs were correct and $25 if the Truck and trailer passed inspection. I passed my inspection and never recieved my safety bonus and also as far as the sign on bonus goes - I had to go to the head of the company and fight them for it and only recieved $500. The sign on bonus was advertised in the newspaper - so it was in writing!!!!! They still tried to renig on it. Also, they refused to pay me my last paycheck and I had to call the Labor Board in Birmingham - and Jason (the Safety Director) lied to them to keep me from getting my last check. Also - I applied with another company in May of 2009 and when they called Wright Trans. - they spoke with Jason and he lied to them and told them that I quit under dispatch - which is totally untrue!!! I had many problems with Jason while I was there and so did other drivers. There were constant problems with him. I gave notice to my Dispatcher (Tommy) when I decided to leave the company - so they absolutely DID know I was leaving. My truck was returned to their property and the trailer was empty,
My advice to any driver who decides to go with this company is to be aware of the fact that you're dealing with an unstable, gender-confused safety manager who will lie to you, screw you over with your bonuses and do everything in his power to get back at you if you had a problem with him (as did the majority of the drivers who worked for the company at the same time I did!!!). Drivers BEWARE!!

I am a three year employee of Wright Transportation - this time. I have worked for this company two other times. When I quit before, I always turned in notice and was always asked what could they do to make me want to stay. I did leave twice for what I assumed to be greener pastures (they were not) and Pat Wright always told me I was welcome to come back anytime.
It sounds like if you were here during the flatbed operations, then you may have been working under Jim Poe. He and Jason are no longer with this company. The Safety Director is Sherry Morrison and she brings a level of professionalism and experience that is truly beneficial to both the driver and the company. Tommy is still with the company and continues to be an exceptional dispatcher, as do all the others.
Pat Wright and the employees and drivers of this company work hard to make this the best trucking company in Mobile. He pays the bonuses he promises (I just got paid a referral bonus and a substantial mileage performance bonus this past week) I have never had a check bounce and if there was ever a discrepancy in pay, it was resolved immediately.
No company is perfect, but I know for a fact that if there are issues, Mr. Wright will do everything he can to correct them. He has an open door policy and encourages his drivers to stop in a see him at any time.
I am a driver and have worked at several companies in the past. Wright Transportation is one of the better ones I have worked for and for there to be one bad report from five years ago should tell you something.
