Bruce from untied diamonds will rip you off. Don't put money down on the custom ring; they jack up the price 30+ % at the last min. before ordering. All they say is gold went up in price, but 30% in a few days doesn't make sense. In an effort to save my deposit, I placed an order with their online prices.  It was a solitary ring.  A week after I placed the order I get a call telling me that they could not fill my order because they didn't have the diamond I wanted.  They tried to sell me some others but I wasn't interested in the other diamonds so I asked for a refund.  I was charged 15% cancellation fee and the $750 deposit. They ripped me off $1,250.  Just a scam, they didnt have any customer service just wanted their fees.

Buyer they get you!!!

United Diamonds

In April of 2010, I paid $250 for United Diamonds to draw me a ring idea I had.  They did produce the drawing; however the price they wanted for the ring was too much so I didnt purchase it. United Diamonds said I could use the $250 towards any future purchase or loose it if I dont purchase any ring from them. I agreed.

On 6-3-2010 I placed an order for a solitary diamond ring from United Diamonds.  I pick out the ring and diamond from their website and placed the order by phone.  They made 2 withdrawals. First charge was for $1,936.00 and a second for $700.00 totaling $2,636.00. The total order was $2886.00 - $250 from my previous work with them.

After a week (when the ring should have been delivered) I received a call from United Diamonds telling me that they could not fill my order with the diamond I had chosen. They emailed me some other diamonds that I was not interested in so I asked for a refund (6-15-10).  At this point I was told about a cancellation fee of 15%.  How can they charge a cancellation fee for an order they could not complete?  I was unsuccessful trying to get them not to charge me the fee for an order they could not fill.  He just kept saying it was their policy.

After a few days later I called to follow up on the refund and could not reach the accounting department. The person that answered the phone would not put me in the accounting departments voice mail and said they where all busy.  The person that answered the phone could not tell me anything about my order.  At this point the person told me to send an email to

I send an email simply asking how many days it typically takes to receive the refund.  I was sent an email back telling met that I was going to be charged 15% of the order for a cancellation fee and another $500.00 for creative service and would have my refund in 24 hours.  It looks like they charged me another $500 on top of the $250 I paid for the ring drawing.  We both agreed on the $250 for the service to design the entire ring including the wedding band. This service was paid for and completed well before I ever placed the order for the solitary ring.

I received a refund amount of $1703.10 on 6-23-10. United Diamonds Withheld $1,182.90.  I agreed to the $250 for the ring drawing so they ripped me off the amount of $932.90.

#2 UPDATE Employee

Every Good Deed Never goes Unpunished

AUTHOR: United Diamonds Care Department - (United States of America)

Hello Mr. Lucas Biese,

This is Bruce.  I tried emailing you back several times to address your concerns, but your email provider has blocked all emails coming from us.

We designed three custom rings for you and went through several design revisions for each one.  You were very clear with me from the beginning that you understood the refund policy.  Initially you indicated to me that you were not aware that the art services was not refundable.  After we clarified that, you asked me to proceed with the first design and you acknowledged that you understood.

We then went through a few revisions spanning over a few weeks before you decided to provide a second and third non-refundable $250 deposits for the the second and third rings.  We completed all three designs along with a few revisions.

Then you used your three design deposits ($250 x 3 = $750) to purchase one ring. The price was not increased by 30%, but the final design you chose was more expensive than your initial budget had alloted for it.  Coupled with gold prices climbing over those couple of months while we were designing the three rings with you also influenced the price difference.  Nonetheless, you ordered a fourth ring, redeemed the $750 deposits, and paid the difference to have it manufactured.

I later discovered that one of our diamonds could be discounted to help you out which was bigger and appraised higher than your original selection.  You abruptly cancelled the order after designing three rings with you over several weeks of revisions and finally ordering a fourth ring to have it made.

This was never a case of us not having the diamond you ordered and not being able to fulfill your order.  I was merely offering you a better and more valuable diamond at a discount to help you out since we worked on your engagement ring so thoroughly.

For you to see that we scammed you is hurtful because it is untrue.  We spent several hours on the phone and exchanged several emails over a few months.

I understand that you wouldn't want to take a $1,250 loss and I even had a manager authorize to let you use 100% of the $1,250 towards your original order or towards a different ring.  But, you declined and said that you were going to post comments all over the internet and that a store credit was not good enough.

I was more shocked to see that you had your credit card company email me to get copies of our email correspondence because you were dishonest with them and were seeking a refund from them too.  I had to provide them with the emails proving that what you were telling them was not true.

If you do not want your $1,250 store credit that is on your account, please let someone claim it and we will allow them to redeem it towards their engagement ring purchase.  My desire has been to completely satisfy your needs and would like to prove that with the quality of our rings and their design.

This is not a case of a company scamming a consumer.  This is a case of a company that did a lot of custom work with the customer's understanding that the time spent to prepare art drawings would not be refundable. We did three drawings and after custom manufacturing a fourth ring, the order was cancelled before we could ship it.

This is a classic case of how "every good deed never goes unpunished".  For anyone interested in receiving a copy of the complete and identical email correspondence exchanged between Lucas Biese and me, you can find it on our website or your can call and I will email it to you.
