I purchased the Hammer X just to give it a shot, not that I bought into the hype, but what the heck.  I don't play enough to actually feel a Handycap is established, but on a good day Bogie golf is where I am at.  I am an old school player, 49 when I got the Hammer X.  My friends always give me a hard time about my Woods, which are just that Wood.  The set I have is 32 years old, still look great and have certainly stood up to my swing.  I carry good speed 100+ down into my irons and hit on average between 250-300 yards with the real Wood Clubs.  I have issues with the current metal woods but thought I would give this a try, as the sound seemed right on the infomertial.

I got the Hammer X, with the X Shaft and Winn Grip, and figured if it did work I would use it for the "Long Drive" holes in the little tournaments I play in. I watched the video, and followed the swing instructions when I went to the course with friends a couple weeks after getting the club.  I hit some range balls with it then when the group was there we went out on the course.  I didn't even finish the small bucket.  Not having a great feel for the club I waited for an open hole so I could let it fly.  So I pull out the Hammer X, tee the ball up above the face of the club like they say you are supposed to, take a couple of practice swings line up to hit my tee shot, and at impact the shaft snapped. The head of the club actually went a little farther than the ball.

This occured last season, in October.  I have been trying to contact the company to get the thing repaired or replaced since it does have a Lifetime Warrenty.  But attempts top call the customer care line, gets you a voice mail regardless of when you call. During regular buisness hours or after hours. The recorded message promises a return call in 24-48 hours. Well don't hold your breath, that call will not come.  I also tried writting the address on their website, well as of this post, there has been no response. I did not anticipate the issue of breakage, I mean Jack Hamm has got to have a higher swing speed than me, so if the club I got is the standard quality and his was "Off the shelf"  he must use 1 of these things per Nine Holes. I am not sure it was a good shaft that was in the club, it did break down inside the hazzel of the club.  I honestly did want to give the thing a fair shake, and did plan on using it, but I don't believe this should be anyones Primary Driver.

I will continue to contact them but I doubt I will have any success, I had initially wanted to get it replaced, but Now after 6 months of nonresponsiveness, I would just send it back. When I give up I will get the thing reshafted, regripped with a standard shaft . I will be in the corner of the garage and I might bring it out now and then just for laughs.

I prefer Real Woods and have ordered a new set.
