I went online searching for a pair of 2015 Sea Doo GTX 215's to purchase for the upcoming Memorial Weekend. The best price I could find within driving distance in a Day was YC Powersports in Osage Beach. Its 500 miles from where I live but I can make the round trip in a day.

I sent YC Powersports an email requesting a call. I eventually spoke with Mathew who was the only positive expriece I had with this dealership. I told Mathew I wanted his best price on 2 units and a trailer. We agreed upon a price and I told Mathew I would drive up on a Wednesday and be at his dealership by 2:00. I arrived at the dealership by 1:30. The one and only issue I had with Mathew was I was told I was getting their best trailer. When I arrived my 2 units were loaded on a trailer with smaller axels and wasn't their best trailer. Again, because I negotiated $200 off the trailer, I assume they downgraded me to a less expensive trailer. I would call that bait and switch.

I decided to finance a portion of the purchase price and had submitted all my paperwork to Michelle Bellmer and stated that the only way we would finance is if she had a bank that would finance in a company name with me as a guarantor. When I arrived to the dealership, I went straight to Michelles office to sign the loan documents. First problem I had with Michelle was she had the loan documents with me as a Co-Borrower. I explained to her that was not what we agreed upon and that I only agreed to do the deal if I was a Guarantor. She stated that they were the same. That is not true. I have done numerous loans and I know the difference between a Co-Borrower and a Guarantor. She is a Finance Manager at a Dealership. If she doesn't know the difference then she should seek a different profession.

Here is how they try and trick people in Finance. She pulls out a sheet showing different payments with different interest rates. While she is explaining all the GAP Insurance and extra Warranty that I could never use living 500 miles away I politely told her I did not want either of those items. She then asked me again which payment I wanted. Are you kidding me??? Its not what payment I want. It is what term do you want on your loan which with their bank determines which interest rate you get. And if you take the GAP Insurance and Extended Warranty you get a lower rate. What Michelle did not tell me was how much all this cost!!! $3200 is what it cost!

Michelle starts printing the loan documents out and starts pushing paper by paper in front of me telling me this is for this and this is for that trying to cover up all the pertinent numbers so I could not see that she added the $1200 for GAP Insurance and $2000 for an Extended Warranty that I could never use. You talk about decetive trade practices and fraud!! We are about half way through Michelle shuffling all the papers in front of me and I stopped her to look over everything she was having me sign and sure enough she added the $1200 GAP Insurance and the $2000 Extended Warranty. At this point, I am about at my wits end with Michelle. Talk about deceptive trade practices!! I finally got her to remove everything and re-print all the loan documents without all her add on's that she gets paid a commission on.

After finishing up the loan documents I went outside to look at the units I was purchasing. One unit had scratches down the side. I immediately brought this to Mathews attention and he politely agreed to swap for another unit. Again, I have to visit Michelle and sign new paperwork with the new VIN on the documents. You would think a dealership would inspect each until before a customer arrives to pick them up.

I finally get back to my home and the next morning I went to the local goverment office to register the Sea Doo's so I can use them for Memorial Weekend. I was informed by the lady assisting me that she can't register them without titles or Manufacturers Statement of Origin. I was beyone ticked off. I just drove 16 hours and 1000 miles and the dealership didn't give me what I needed to use the Sea Doos for Memorial Weekend. I immediatly called Michelle Bellmer again and asked her for her assistance. She informed me they put temporary tags on each unit but they are only good for Missouri. I then asked her to contact the local Sea Doo dealer in Dallas and ask them for a favor to put temporary tags on my Sea Doos. She agreed to contact the local dealer and call me back. When she called me back she states that the dealers where I live do in fact put temporary tags on the Sea Doos until the title work can be completed. I asked Michelle if she asked them if they would help me out so I can use the units over the weekend and her reply was "they didn't offer to help so I didn't ask". Are you kidding me?!!! I again asked her to call them and ask if they would help out. She didnt call anyone and left me hanging. Go find a reputable dealer before you buy from YC Powersports if that's possible. Funny how they post photos daily of customers who purchase units from them on their Facebook page but they never once offered to take my picture even after I spent $27,000 with them. I have since requested they send me a temporary Missouri registrations so I can use the Sea Doo's in Missouri for Memorial Weekend. NO REPLY from YC Powersports!! I wonder if the owners of YC Powersports are aware how Pat Smith and Michelle Bellmer run their business..

Our transaction is hereby cancelled? Have you lost what is left of your mind? I purchased those units last May you idiot! Tell you what Ms. Educated, have your lawyer contact me. I have every bit of our conversation documented. We can see who the liar is. You want to falsely defame me? Go ahead and face the consequences. All my statements are 100% factual. I am smart enough to know that defaming a business falsely can lead to a lot of problems.

Rebuttal to Carl Fleming

AUTHOR: Michelle - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, February 04, 2017

Mr Fleming, your memory is flawed. The first paper I had you sign was a credit app. It says co-buyer on it. There’s nothing I can do about that. That’s when you started yelling at me. I explained to you that I don’t generate that part of the credit application. You were already in a foul mood because you had seen the scratch on your unit.

When I took out my menu I told you these are your repayment options. I explained extended warranty and GAP to you during the menu presentation. I did tell you that you could use the extended warranty nationwide and in Canada. Not just here. You picked the preferred box which includes those two items and did not say you didn’t want anything extra. You didn’t say anything politely by the way. I have never told anyone that they get a lower rate if they buy extra products. That’s against the law and I know it, that is why it says so on my menu.

I didn’t try to cover up anything. I put each document in front of the customer and explain what each one is. Every time. You saw the GAP and extended warranty costs on the contract and threw it at me. You yelled at me that you didn’t want either of those. That’s when I calmly pulled the menu back out and showed you that was what you agreed you wanted. And you yelled again that you didn’t want those so I asked you if you would like those terms without warranty and GAP. You said yes so, I scratched them out and reprinted the contract. It's nothing to scream about.

You looked at the units before closing and saw the scratch. I got everything swapped out before we did paperwork.

I told you as I do everyone else that you can’t get them registered without MSO’s but in Missouri you have 60 days to do so. I did contact a dealer in Texas and asked if they use temp tags there. They said they do but, just like us, they must report them with each sale and since they didn’t sell them to you they can’t give you tags.  I did call you back and tell you that. I suggested you go to your local DMV to get temp tags. You later said you were going to use the Sea Doos here at this lake and wanted temp tags for that so I made them out and scanned them to you because that’s how you wanted them.

You emailed me the next day with this:

Our transaction is hereby cancelled. Please make arrangements to pick up the units in Texas immediately and refund all our money. I'll be contacting the bank today to rescind the note and my attorney will be in touch.

Typical Dealer Rebuttal

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Thursday, February 02, 2017

I have a place at the lake where you sell your units but I live in Texas most of the year. If anyone had told me those units were defective or anything was wrong, I never would have driven your dealership regardless of the price. I was honestly trying to invest back into your local economy, plus you had the lowest price in the area I was willing to drive.  You marketed those units and NEW, not used or defective. I also told your wizard finance manager upfront in the beginning that I was not interested in all the typical add on's your crooks try to slide past the typical consumers, yet Michelle went ahead and added it anyway. THAT IS WHY I WAS TICKED OFF!!! Nothing else!!!  I have sinced visited your dealership again because the trailers you sold me were not constructed correctly and they put large gouges into the bow of each Sea Doo I purchased. Your service department was kind and quick to fix the errors, but honesly the repair was not perfect but I kept my mouth shut and left your dealership again a less than satisfied.

I can promise you this, I will let a lot of others know what kind of dealership you are and what you really think of your customers!

Buy Local

AUTHOR: mchesney - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, February 02, 2017

In response to your issues with YC Powersports I offer the following comments;

I was a Powersports dealer for 16-years in Michigan and I have met and dealt with many buyers like you. First of all, you don't drive 5-hours one way to buy product at those prices unless they have been discounted as old stock or have some slight defects. They obviously made you a deal on some units that were less than perfect and when you saw them it became a problem. I have been through this many times with buyers and I finally learned that anyone who tries to negotiate the last dime out of the sale is not worth selling to because all they do is complain about everything.

When you say the finance mamager tried to rip you off for extended warranty and GAP insurance, that's also got to be a lie. It's the finance managers job to try and sell those producs, you didn't have to sign the papers and I'm sure you weren't being forced to.

I would advise you to realize that Powersports dealers make less than 10% profit (on average) in their business after expenses and yet they are treated as though they are getting rich on every sale. If you only knew what the dealer has to go through on a daily basis to make sure customers, manufacturers and employees are happy it would turn your stomach.

These people work hard to bring these products and services to the market place. You should have paid the price the local . dealer wanted instead of bypassing them. I'm sure when they break you'll be standing on their doorstep expecting them to take you right in to the service shop and get them fixed ASAP regardless of who's in line first.

Shop closer to home, pay the price and let others make a living so they can provide quality service after the sale. Is that too much to ask?
