Ymax Oration Landline in Beltsville MD Called saying they were from the IRS and I owed back taxes or the sheriff would be called to arrest me today. When asked, they said they'd sent me two notices which were returned unopened. The address they mailed them to was an address I haven't lived at for 2 years and I've filed my taxes from my current address. The real IRS would have known that. When I used Reverse Phone Lookup to check the number they called from, it said Ymax Oration Landline in Beltsville MD...not the IRS. Beltsville MD

I was called around 8 am by an automated caller stating it was the IRS and not to ignore the call.  It gave me a name and number to call them back immediately.  I called the number and the person at the other end stated they were from the IRS and asked for my phone number. After asking for the name of an attorney to represent me, they said I owed back taxes and they'd tried to contact me twice, but the letter had been returned.  As a result, they were going to call the sheriff and have me arrested.

I use Turbo Tax and have always entered the correct amounts in all columns.  For me to owe over $6,600 I would have had to miss over $30,000 in income.  There was no way it could be a legitimate call.  I asked them what address they'd sent the letter to and they gave me my last residence which was sold last year.  I've filed from my current residence the last 2 years and the real IRS would have my correct address.

I called a friend who is an attorney and he said it sounded like a scam, so I used Reverse Phone Lookup on the internet and instead of the number coming from the IRS, it came from Ymax Oration Landline in Beltsville, MD.  The phone number used was (202) 506-9529. I did not send any money or give any personal information to the person on the other end of the line.
