My 2 year old daughter was crossing her eyes so I took her to the eye Doctor. Dankner Fiergang eye associates. The doctor said she was very near sighted and would need to wear eye glasses all the time. He said that glasses may help the crossing and he wrote the prescription.

She had a stronger prescription in her right eye. I took the prescription right out into the lobby of the office where there was a vision center called Young Eyes.
i decided to use them instead of someone I had heard of b/c they specialized in pediatrics.

First the man talked me into a 200 dollar pair of glasses that were supposedly practically invinsible. Then lenses that cost over $100. So after paying more than $300 for my daughters glasses I left feeling confident.

So after 1 month of wearing the glasses the lenses began to get scratches. So I thought maybe thay were not scratch proof. I thought that for $100+ that they should be but I wasn't sure. Then the frames began to bend out of shape badly after 2 months. And finally after 3 months the left lens fell out and I had to use a small wire to hold it in b/c I couldnt find the screw. I was having trouble getting myself to Young Eyes b/c I dont drive and my husband was working. It wasnt close to home. So I decided to go get her a cheap pair of glasses from the Walmart vision center around the corner from my house until I could get her good pair fixed. That way she would have an extra pair anyway.

So at Walmart I used the exact prescription that I gave Young Eyes and had them make her a pair of $80 glasses. I was pleased to be able to get the frames and lenses for so cheap sinse I had thought that I was paying the average price the first time. Anyway these glasses were holding up great after 3 months. Hardly any scratching at all and the frames were still in perfect shape. So I decided not to even go all the way back to Young Eyes and argue with them to try to have her glasses replaced or fixed. I was happy with her new pair and put the old pair up to be a spare in case her new ones broke.

To the point. 5 months after that, almost a year sinse I had bought the original glasses, I happened to be looking at the 2 pair of glasses together and noticed that in one pair there was a thicker lens in the left eye and in the other pair the thicker lens was in the right eye. So I knew that one pair was wrong. Needless to say that it was the original exspensive pair from Young Eyes that was made wrong. I was furious that I trusted them with my babies eyes and they let me down b/c I didnt know enough about opthamology to check for that.

First I wanted to call a malpractice lawyer, but everyone else who I talked to said there was nothing they could sue for. I thought there should be. Maybe if she would have had the correct prescription in each eye then the problem may have been corrected because her doctor said in the beginning that the glasses may correct the problem. Also I have heard my whole life that if you wear someone elses eyeglasses that it could mess up your eyes. I am still awaiting her next eye check-up to see if her eyes have in fact gotten worse. I do not want to go back to Dankner and Feirgang b/c I think they are connected with Young eyes and would back them up.

So instead of seeing a lawyer I decided that I just wanted to get my $308.00 back and be done with them sinse not only were they neglegent in putting the leses in but also the frames were not durable and the lenses themselves were not at all durable. I took the lenses back to the place and spoke with the man working.I explained to him that the left lens had fell out and been put back in but the right lens had never been removed and that they were backwards. I showed him the original prescription, my receipt, the wrong glasses and her newer glasses. I explained to him why I had just noticed and told him that she wore them for 3 months like that. He went to the back and after returning after almost 20 minutes he handed them back and said "Here you go I switched them back and put a screw in the left side. Whoever fixed these for you when the lenses fell out put them in backwards." It was as if he heard nothing that I said. Again I said "no Young Eyes put them in this way and the right lens has never been touched sinse we received them from here. I would like my money back." To which he says "oh" and heads back to the back for another 20 minutes.

This time after returning he informs me that there was no manager there and he would let the manager know what happened and have he/she call me on Monday. (2 days later.) I left furious b/c I had went in with the intention of not taking no for an answer and I had been easily defeated.

On monday I get a phone call from Young Eyes. Not from the manager but from the same guy who saw us on Saturday. Now he tells me that he spoke to the manager and that it has been too long sinse the purchase of the glasses to give me a refund. I told him that not noticing the mistake sooner didnt change the fact that I trusted them to make my daughters first pair of glasses, something that was crucial to her vision and they let her down. He said "again ma'am it has just been too long. We can offer you 30% off your next visit but that is all." To which I told him that I could never as a good caring mother trust them to make my child another pair of glasses. For all I know the prescription could be completely wrong. There is no way for me to know if its done right so I need someone I can trust and then I hung up.

During both conversations with this man he never once apologized on behalf of the company. He acted like their neglegence was no big deal. What if I took a prescription into a pharmacy and they gave me the wrong medicine. Wouldnt that be neglegence? To me this is the same thing. These people gave my 2 year old the wrong medicine for her eyes and never even apologized. I would warn anyone against using that place. The $80 glasses that I bought from walmart have already lasted 4 times as long. And this place couldnt even have the desency of saying sorry or having the manager take time out of his/her day to acknowledge the issue. They are horrible.

We will be going soon to a new eye doctor at Johns hopkins and we will then know if our poor Jaden's eyes are worse then when we started. If they are I wonder if I could have a law suite against them then? If anyone knows anything about these kind of issues and can think of anythiung I can do to get justice please let me know.
