Zeigler Livestock Transport Horse Rip Off ARTIST! Britt Iowa

I have read the reports for Zeigler and purchased a mare last February from Al. I can tell you that, at least in my experience with him, my mare was everything he said she would be. She is gentle, calm, sound and gave me back the confidence I needed to ride again after a bad fall. I knew that when I purchased her, sight unseen, off the internet that I would be taking a chance. She exceeded my expectations. Clearly, I cannot speak for others, but I would buy from him again.

Here is a place where you can look up Al Zeigler. He's been in trouble for decades, according to this official web site. This is all public record and I make no claims as to the disposition of these cases, what they were about and his guilt or innocence. This is the name of the horse that Al Zeigler has already recieved 1/2 of the money on. Keep that in mind if you are thinking of buying this horse. her price was 2,500.00 and I gave this ripoff artist 1,250 down. She was severely injured to the point that she couldn't be shipped. Be careful!

Al never offered to have another vet check done at his expense. He never offered to let me have the horse for less due to the injury. All of this is smoke and mirrors. What about the insane phone calls Al???? There were a lot of things Al could have done to protect his good name and he did nothing but scream and swear at us and call us repeatedly. Al ripped us off. Don't I wish I had been home to read that contract! He took advantage of my husband who has no experience with his kind. Here is another part of the contract! 2) Seller makes no additional express or implicit representations as to the soundness, health, conformation or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OF THE HORSE AND THE BUYER ACCEPTS THE HORSE "AS IS." (emphasis mine) All that Big Al is warranting is that he has the right to sell the horse. All the rest of it is HOT AIR! He will promise that the horse is suitable, but if it kills your kid, goes lame, gets killed in transit, bucks, bites, won't tie, can't be ridden on the trails, you know, all that stuff he tells you about the horse isn't true, here's the contract that says that even after he tells you what a miracle the horse is, that if it isn't suitable for WHAT HE SAYS IT IS that he is not responsible. Along with that italicized part about the deposit "nonrefundable for any reason" this is a recipe for a rip off. Al's whole contract is a rip off. Here is another part of the "contract." 7) ... any legal action regarding this sale will be governed by the laws of the state of IOWA (his caps) & be laid in Hancock county, Iowa. He doesn't want to travel all over the country responding to lawsuits. I don't believe for one minute that Al had a vet check that horse, and even so, what's to stop him from drugging it before the vet gets there? Just my opinion folks, you can draw your own conclusions. Maybe that horse is just fine and everything he says it is, it is. I am just not going to take a chance of wasting a bunch more money on a horse that was too lame to ship. End of story.

We had the vet out today he verified this mare IS SOUND . The same mare he did the vet check on previously. He also verified this was the same mare that is on the REG. Papers. We showed him the bill of sale that has the reg Number on it with your signature. Also we Made a video of this horse walking, trotting, & loping.

regards to the other posts about horses we have sold we have asked them for a video of them riding these horses and they were not sent to us.

Al Zeigler contacted me just before the horse was to be delivered and said the horse "slipped on some ice or something" and was completely lame in the hip. He stated that she was too lame to ship, which I agreed to. My daughter was devastated, but what can you do if the horse can't handle the trip? Then I got thinking about buying yet another horse from a horse dealer that just happens to go lame AFTER I buy it. There was that clause about no refunds, and I hated to waste that money, but there you have it. NO REFUNDS is clearly stated in the contract! I lose, he wins. The horse was scheduled to leave his ranch on February 18th. If he wasn't a rip off artist he would have returned the money. I also DID PAY for a vet check. Funny he didn't show the vet the papers so that the vet knew which horse he was looking at. Also from Al's own mouth, he medicated this horse when she went lame. Did he medicate her before the vet saw her too? I'll never know because I didn't have the vet drug test the horse. I don't know why he is so mad! He's got the money and the horse. Sounds like a good deal to me. Anybody buying a horse unseen. Don't ever sign a contract that has a "no refund" clause in it. This is there so that you can be ripped off with no recourse! Look at the other people who complained! All he has to say is well, they signed the contract, and then he attacks them personally. Also, anybody can get laid off in this economy. The idea that I should have had a crystal ball is just silly. Things happen. It's nice to see that Mr. Zeigler is so understanding. This horse went LAME, that's why she wasn't delivered. I am not paying another $1,250.00 to have a lame horse delivered. I am also not paying $250 a month to board a lame horse in Iowa. I can't afford it. Keep all of this in mind when you go to deal with this person.

First off it is not our fault you called this morning (Feb 14th) and said you could not pay the remaining balance on the horse. When you signed our contract in NOV 08. she was suppose to be shipped out a month ago, but we waited because you said you didn't have the money then , and you needed more time.

2 weeks ago you said you couldn't pay for the horse we recommended you board the horse, until you could get the rest of the money, the only reason you are not getting this horse is because you called and said you could not finish paying for the horse. If you did not agree with our contract you should never have signed it. YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS HORSE OR ROAD THIS HORSE. ( every person has the option to come and see & ride the horses they are looking at). We did not misrepresent this horse and for you to make a comment about your daughter getting hurt or killed just goes to show what type of person you are. if there was any dought you couldn't pay for this horse you should have never bought it. it all comes down to you couldn't pay for the horse.

Less than 4 hours after I listed this in my ripoff report I have been called 4 times, screamed at, sworn at etc. This man has also talked to my husband and screamed at him. Al Zeigler has stated that he has already contacted an attorney to sue me for slander. Everything I have said about this man is true. I may have to file an order of protection against him. I am absolutely stunned at how vicious he is. He called me a "low-life b***h" among other things. I am thankful that my daughter is at a church function and didn't answer the phone! I tried talking calmly to him and asking HIM to calm down to no avail. I welcome his attorney's call. What is obvious is that this man's good name is worth less than the $5,500 that another victim paid. This man's good name is worth less than the $1,250 that I paid him. Heck his good name is worth less than the $250 that yet another person gave him. If he was concerned with what people thought about their dealings with him, then he would have worked with them in the beginning wouldn't he? He wouldn't be calling screaming and swearing like a mad man. I RECORDED ALL OF HIS VIOLENT CALLS AFTER THE FIRST ONE. It may not be usable in court because he never gave me the chance to get a word in edgewise, but the police might be interested. Good thing he lives far away or I would be in fear of my life. All of this over a horse that he claims was injured after I bought it and couldn't be delivered. He kept the deposit because it was in the contract. That clause is in there for a reason.... I was laid off unexpectedly and didn't want to take the chance of buying a horse that was injured and wasting even more money that I don't have right now. So, once again, no money, no horse and now I have a crazy man calling me! There is no dealing with this man.
