We have had our bare-land property listed with a realtor for a year.  Zillow incorrectly links our property to a neighbor's with a house.  They will not fix the description which lists our bare land property as having bedrooms and bathrooms and a huge tax bill!  The map they display is our neighbors house.  As of the middle of the month, our property disappeared all together for a couple of weeks then came back again with the same errors.  Our realtor told us not to pay attention to Zillow as it's wrong much of the time, but many people still use it and believe what is shown.  I would like to join a class action lawsuit if others join me.  Our property values are suffering because of Zillow.

Zillow needs a Zestimate "opt out" process

AUTHOR: Surbiton - ()

POSTED: Thursday, April 24, 2014

As someone whose home was identified as being in a neighboring city 6 miles away I share your concern about Zillow and its nonsense imposed Zestimates. Even though Zillow accepted that my home was "located in the wrong city due to a 3rd party geo mapping error" they refused to correct or delete the incorrect Zestimate, despite the error being $100K.

When a $4Bn Nasdaq company, which claims to be the largest real estate media company, then refusal to behave in a socially responsible way towards consumers should invoke some form of Regulation to protect homeowners from this nonsense - in the same way as Banks, Insurance, Utility, Medical, Investments, Airlines, etc are all Regulated. At the very least Zillow should be required to have an opt out option with a DoNotZestimate weblink in the same way as Phone users can register with DoNotCall to opt out of unwanted spam phone calls.

Listen to your realtor

Zillow is not a reliable source anyway. Do you think those who buy property would look at Zillow site only? You don't need to be panic on this issue; besides, let your realtor do the work!
