I am a Director for the Ontario Good Sam Club. My wife and & are former members of Five Star. Currently active members of Coast to Coast Deluxe. During the past 5 years I have personally had several threating phone calls for Five Star and their Associates.

The Phone calls have stopped now, since we sent a registered letter of "Formal Notice" to Five Star to Cease & Desist".

Please make note it is illegal to use the telephone to threaten anyone.

I the beginning everything was fine till we when to go back to stay at Five Star. First thing, they nailed us for $5 a day for electric. refused to give a receipt for it or take a credit card. Cash only!

Then they were hit by Katrina. We understood they would be closed then. Then finally when they got open we tried to book and were refused entrance because the Park was full of Katrina Trailers and as well none Five Star members.

We are still receiving threatening mail though.

On April 24th 2008 we have decided to launch a International campaign to put a stop to this improper activity at Five Star and have the designation, "A Coast to Coast RV Resort removed.

We are presently collecting names of others who have experienced "Threats" from Five Star, namely from a George Myers and Jim Jerde of Five Star.

The so called "Life" contract is not valid in a court of law. Before paying any money to get out of any contract with Five Star, you speak to your Attorney.

As a Director and representative for the Good Sam Club in Ontario, Canada, I get some complaints. In 7 years the only complaints I have received about an RV Resort, was Five Star. They have been terrible and sometimes in humane. In one case a Widow who has Terminal Cancer was repeatedly harassed on the phone several times a days. We intervened and got Bell Canada to set up "Call Blocking". That person has since died of cancer, but we understand Five Star is trying to get money for their children.

Most of the complaints have come from Widows or Widowers or individuals that can no longer RV anymore. The stories I have listened too, are unbelievable, but upon investigation found to be true.

I have filled a complaint personally with Coast to Coast, Doug Woods of the Affinity Group, he is the National Sales Manager Coast to Coast Resorts, phone 404-394-0599 email dwoods@affinitygroup.com

I suggest, that if you are a current Coast to Coast member, that you contact Coast to Coast RV Resorts as well. That is if you have had a similar bad experience with Five Star.

FIVE STAR is working well for us

my experience with Five Star is much different than Bernie's so i cannot dispute his dealings with them. but i have included my experience with them, as follows:

i became a member of Five Star Associates in June 2007, a little less than i have been an RV owner. i found their resale membership product and campground park affiliations (ie, RPI, Coast to Coast, amongst others) to be perfectly suited to my purposes.

with the small exception of late processing and transferring of my Coast to Coast membership, everything has worked out much better than i would have thought possible.

i was made aware upfront of yearly maintenance fees, annual costs associated with affiliate memberships, and nightly fees for using Five Star Associate campgrounds.

never have i received anything threatening or intimidating from them. in fact, i have and would continue to recommend their resale memberships to others.

a lot of parks are surcharging for a myriad of items now-a-days. i can't imagine why Coast to Coast would want to loose another campground from its directory, they've lost enough in the past few years as it is!
