on may 15,2009 i placed the order with directv representative Florence .i explained to her that we have 4 hd tvs and we will need 4 hd boxes . she informef me that after running my credit i was eligible for up to 6 HD boxes at no cost , only $19.95 for shipping and handling and regular monthly bill.

my husband was listening to my conversation with a representative and he mention to me , that directv used to charged leasing fee for each HD box , and its not for free. i put him on the pphone with tyhe same representative and she reassure him of all stating above and she added to the conversation that she understands that regular boxes wouldnt even work with our Hd tvs.
on may 18 installer came with 3 regular boxes and 1 hd box , my husband told him to change it to the Hd based on conversation with Florence.

on june 5 i went on diectv website to check my bill and i was speechless after seeing $300 for hd boxes , i called and spoke with superviser , but it was useless, i ask to cansel my services right away before 30 days and take they boxes , but i was informed about $500 canselation fee, i sad that i never signed any contract and i was told its a policy and best options to write to dispute department , so i did it .i called 1 week later to directv and was told that all charges are correct . i ask for the ph # to dispute department _ its doesnt exist , so is email or names of the people who came up with this desigion. i requested the tape from may 15 , and was told its have to be supino.

now i have a bill for more then $1000, for the service i wouldnt ever order in the first place , if i wasnt scamed by the representative.

when you sign up for directv, you are given equipment based on your credit. you can qualify for up to 4 rooms free (you still pay a monthly fee but you don't pay the up front cost for the receivers) and you get 1 free advanced receiver and  3 standard receivers if your credit is good enough to not need a deposit. if you wanted 4 hd receivers, you would pay $99 for each one after the first one. no one gets 4 free hd receivers. you also say regular standard receivers would not work with your hd tv's. yes it would. you would not get hd programming but you would still get to watch digital tv channels. i have 2 hd tv's in my home and only 1 of them has an hd receiver on it, the other has a standard dvr and it works just fine because it's a smaller hd tv at 32". the bigger one has the hd receiver. lastly, your early cancellation fee is valid because you did agree to a 2 year commitment. you only have 24 hours to cancel your account to avoid an early cancellation fee, not 30 days.
