My NR Experience
One of my best friends was introduced into NR. She told me what a great way to "Start a New Life" and meet new people. She told me about NR and said, its all about Real Estate....this was in the end of 2007.
We used to go out at least once a month with friends, but after she joined NR, she was very busy working with them. I never really understood what she did, but she was always telling me, that Real Estate Investing is the Key. We both made 6 figures at a very well known company, but she decided to quit, because she felt she could make triple with her business (NR) then stay at her current job.
I didn't see much of her in 2008, so I assumed she was doing well, since she quit her high paying job. She also told me that she purchased 2 investment properties through NR and was very excited ($50K & $80K). Still, she was pushing me to attend a NR seminar so I can learn all about it. She even had a large decal on the back of her car stating, "Not making $20,000 a month, call xxx-xxxx"
In the end of 2008, I went to one of those seminars, and they did disclose a tuition ranging $1600 - $16,000 depending on the level of education. The perk was also if you signed up other people who are interest, you receive half the tuition as credit, so in reality, signing up more interested people would pay for your tuition. They even had all of there services in house, so convenient. Wow, that sounded great, but just shows the company will never lose.
In the next few months, I watched my friend changed her tune from "Real Estate Investing is the Key" to "Education is the Key". She had stopped purchasing Real Estate and was focused on Selling the "Education". She would also tell newcomers that her business is focus on "Helping People."
She suggested to another mutual friend to grasp at this opportunity, even though our friends finances were rocky. Our friend joined NR with the idea of a "Get-Rich Quick" idea....the marketing side of NR. She did not pay her mortgage for quite some time to make the tuition, even though my friend said, she will get a fast return with the NR education.
My friend goes to EVERY NR event. I didn't know it was because she needed to recruit more members to make up for the income she lost when she quit her job. Next thing I know, she talks about Foreclosures, and how she can help people that are going through Foreclosures, because "she is in the business of helping people". But then I realize, she is in the business of making a "Finders Fee" from peoples Mishaps from the economy.
Then in the end of 2009, the friend she signed up also goes through foreclosure, but I don't see my friend or her even using the NR education they paid for.
My friend is always broke, and she did fly out to see her property, which the value is less than she paid. She was thinking it would be a fast flip, but now the place needs repairs and is borrowing the money from me and our contract for repayment is not against her investment property, but with the property she lives in.
The original post made me feel good that I did not invest with NR. I feel my friend is embarrassed but is trying to recover from bad decisions, because she is really working hard, very hard. People don't have jobs, and people do not want to risk what they have.
