pepboys idiots for mechanics, Lost Wheel After Brake Job. nightmare auto repair

It was on a Sunday morning and my 18 year old son is only off on that day and needed brakes for his 95 VW Jetta. He bought the brakes from pep boys and they charged him for the labor, that was not so bad 120.00. It is still alot of money for an 18 year old kid who works to pay his own car payment and insurance. Late that afternoon after he picked up the car after driving for just a little bit maybe a few miles if that much, the right back wheel flew off the car.

We called the tow truck to tow it to the car dealer we bought it from thinking it was another problem. It was not another problem it was one of the mechanics that worked on the brakes saying he never inspected the brakes only visibly which I know for a fact you cannot do it on this type of auto. We were back and fourth with the dealer and pep boys.

After being very frustrated and annoyed I finnaly called customer relations @ pep boys and they finaly put a claim in for the repair of the car. I also told them it has cost us almost 1,000.00 for a car rental since this happened on 01/06/02. The crazy part is you can never get a person, you only get voice mail saying they will call you back in 24 hours and never do I always have to call them back.

It has been a nightmare and I think I may have to take them to court, oh by the way there is over 1000.00 worth of damage to my sons car. We still have not gotten anywhere with this, we cant even afford to get my sons car out of the shop and he cant make his monthly car payment because he has been payig for the car rental. Pep boys said they need to get authorization for a car rental @25.00 a day what a joke.
