Cydcor is all a scam. What once might have been a great business model has now turned into a nation wide nuisance. I worked with the company for over a year, and what I tell you is not only my personal opinion, but all the facts in here are true. I have see it first hand.
I applied to the company through Monster.com, and got a call for an interview the very same day. They asked if I could meet with them that afternoon, which to me was weird, I told them no it was too short of notice and scheduled something for a day later. (they do that hoping you will be too excited to research the company and find out what they really do)
When walking down the hall to my interview the music was being blasted at full volume and I could hear it from down the hall. (they say they do it to be trendy and have an upbeat atmosphere)
After a 5 min interview, I was invited back (for the very next day of course) for a full 8 hour second round interview. I went, and all my suspicions were correct, it was door to door. But because the guy who did my 2nd round interview was very honest about the job, I decided to take the position.
The 2nd round interviewer told me up front, "its commission only, and we walk all day to visit our customers. It is mostly cold calling unless you meet someone and set your own appointment. If you want to become a manager and own your own office, we can get you there, but everyone starts from the bottom." Sounds honest, and he was a smart guy, so I took the position.
In the typical Cydcor office you will find a small lobby area with a cute (distracting) girl working as the receptionist/recruiter. They call them Admin short for administrators. Their job is to bring you in the door for the interview and keep talking to distract you from asking questions. These companies usually bring in 50-100 people a week for preliminary interviews, but always stress to the admin to bring in more. (so if you are called for an interview- sorry but dont feel special.)
There is a big room they call "atmosphere" where there are no chairs or tables, just boards and posters on the walls. You have to stand the whole time you're at work. The typical work day is from around 1130 (depending on what youre selling, some come in at 730) and you are in the office for an hour or two then selling 'in the field' for about 6-7 hours. It all varies by the office and manager, but you will be walking DOOR TO DOOR NO MATTER WHAT THE TEMP, WEATHER, OR LOCATION all day. Thats why they tell women "make sure you wear comfy shoes"
If you don't mind hard work, and commission only, then this is a job for you. But no matter what they tell you "comparable compensation" "negotiable" "some salary some commission" its ALL COMMISSION ONLY. They are just dancing around the fact.
I have seen many people stay at that job just because there is a promise of "owning your own business", and making a lot of money, but the fact of the matter is, that only 1 in hundreds of people actually do it. And usually its the person "favored" by the manager, he will help you if he likes you and sees you can make him money.
Don't be fooled by the sweet talking they have learned. They have strategic ways of making you feel like they are your best friends so that you will stay in the company. The truth is, that they are all broke, in debt, or starting to bum off their family to pay bills, because no one wants to buy from door to door sales people anymore, and they make no money if no one buys.
They have a "bell party" at the end of each work day, and ring either a small bell for one customer, a medium bell for two, or a large gong for more than 3. or they vary by the amount of money you made. They do this to get you excited for when you actually do make money, its your chance at spotlight. And you are not allowed to discuss a "bad day". You are forbidden to talk about anything bad in a Cydcor office. (you might scare off the new people)
I do not want to say exactly how long I was there, or where I worked, because these are nice people, they've just been brainwashed by the owners. JAMIE HEPP, SEAN VERNON, WANIS NAJIB, LIAM BOYER, JUSTIN DUTCHER, SYS SAVANH, SEAN MUSIL, TED PICHA, BADU, BLAKE WILSON, and many others are common names you will hear for the managers. They give false promises and treat you like they care, but in the end, if you don't sell, they don't want you.
They tell you they will train, that there are no quotas, that it is a professional atmosphere, and even Better Business approved, but its all the same. I say, take the interview, if you don't have other things to do, go on the 2nd round and lead them on. They hate it when you don't show up for work the first day (you're called a no show) and you can send them a link to this site to explain why. Their biggest pet-peeve is when the email has no text, but a link to Rip off report site. They're all over this site. browse around for a while and see what the others have to say.
Good luck.
