We signed up for Direct Tv in April. We have had nothing but problems with them.

We have been through now 4 or 5 DVRs. They all continually go bad after about a month of use at the longest. There explanation now is they will send out a new download to fix it.

It seems that this is a constant problem for them and they chalk it up to new technology. This is rediculous when TIVO had the same type of system with smaller memory but still the same type and it works without as many problems. I have read numerous complaints about Direct TV and these issues.

Many unsatisfied customers of Direct TV all over. You would think we should all get together and do something about all of their problems.

We tried to get out of our 2 year contract because they cannot seem to uphold their side. We were told that we would have to pay a $300.00 early cancellation fee and that they no longer have the ability to waive that fee even for the amount of problems we have had.

The lady in the cancellation department admitted that the authorization to waive the early cancellation fee was taken away due to the amount of customers who have tried to leave due to Direct TV and their own problems.

How is it we have to stay in a conract or pay to get out when they do not give us the service we pay for. We have never not paid our bill, even with numerous overcharages which they have rectified. We just want out.

I think a contract is a contract and if they do not uphold their end of the contract we should be able to get out of that contract. Unfortunately our contract which was for 2 years has somehow been extended an extra 6 months without our knowledge.

Are any of their practices legal?

I want to make it clear that we love the service they have to offer, but expect it to be hassle free for the amount of money we pay into it. Or at least for the problems to be resolved.

The fact that they cannot seem to resolve the problems I think is a bunch of lies. They rope you in with promises of service, they can't hold up. Then to get out you have to pay. How is that fair?? It was not us who did not hold up our end.

I Am Presently Fighting DirecTV Due To Bad Service

and the fact they want the DVR my daughter bought me returned to them or they will charge me an additional amount (they have already attempted to charge me an "early cancellation fee"). Please file a complaint with your State AG's office and the AG's office where DirecTV is telling you to send written correspondence and file with the BBB in both places (I KNOW the BBB won't do anything but bug them anyway). The more complaints that are filed, the better chance we have of DirecTV not ripping off any more consumers.
